Veronica motioned her arms around Syl as she looked at Zachary and said, "The best place to go would either be the Police Station or the Church. Johnny and I have the church well stocked with food and supplies, and there are catacombs beneath where we can run to.".

“That would be best. We have to get going before they come back. We’ve no time to waste.” Zachery replied as he slowly let go of Johnny and Alexander, standing on his own. He would only slow them down. “We should wait until morning to come back out unless we are forced to find somewhere else to take shelter. It’s obvious we are the ones being targeted by… these things.” He said and nodded at Veronica, “Lead the way.”

Chrystabelle absorbed the scene quietly, agreeing that it would be best if they got somewhere safe for the evening. Day would certainly be less shadowy than the night, and she was sure everything would be better in the morning. She wondered why they were specifically being targeted. She admired the young man's ability to on despite his pain, and hoped they would make it before anything else happened.

Asri let Veronica touch Syl, but didn't let Veronica hold it. He nodded at the wounded man and then at Veronica.
"Sounds like a good plan," he said, "mind if we tag along? I'd rather have safety in numbers, in case those demons show up again in greater numbers."
He stepped towards the wounded man and looked at him straight in the eye, with a concerned expression on his face.
“Would you like me to treat your wounds when we get there? Or are you fine on your own?”
What Asri failed to mention was the ultimate irony behind his words, that his curse was more powerful than it looked. Safety in numbers? Hah. If he was lucky, that irony would, in time, not soon hang above his head more obviously than a neon sign would.
What a hypocrite you are, Asarek. You have company aplenty, see?
Stop it! Just… get out of my head! Now! I… just…
No, that would be too easy. Why would you fraternize with these people if you have better company? How badly do you want to see them dismembered before your eyes, in all the dark bloody glory of murder? Face it, Asarek. You preach honesty, yet you live a lie outside your family. You try to help others, but you’re more poisonous than a mamba…
Asri struggled not to show that a voice was speaking to him in his head… but… it sounded sickly sweet, words laden with honey and poison at the same time. Absolutely sickening. Asri struggled to ignore it, especially its last words.
Can’t you see?
You’re a hypocrite.
No. That’s not true.

Zachery let the offer hang in the air for a moment, deciding if it would be best to let someone else touch him. It was almost disgusting to think of it, and on that note, this man seemed a bit out of it himself. An even more debatable area, making him wonder if he should let this man try to treat him since his brother was not here. “I am not keen on people touching me or much healing me other than my brother. But if it is necessary, then I would very much appreciate your offer.” He replied. Zachery, even though he much looked like a teenager and he says he is, is much more mature than you would think a teenager to be. Though, truthfully, he isn’t a teenager technically. His race lives triple the normal life span of a humans, but their culture identifies their age by appearance as not to tick off any human suspicions when they are out and about. They never tell their real age of living, only those that have known them from birth could actually know their exact age.
He walked, or rather limped, past Asri, ignoring the pain so he could better pay attention to the risks at hand. It was just the beginning of night, and these creatures seemed to thrive from the shadows. It would be hard to evade them at this point. “There is a long while before dawn, I suggest we hurry and find shelter then discuss the situation after we are out of the middle of danger.”

Veronica led the way to the church. From where the group was, the walk wasn't long.
Pushing the door open, Veronica stepped aside and said, "Please, make yourselves comfortable. If there is anything you need, feel free to ask.".
Veronica trailed off and began to light candles around the church.

Zachery walked in behind Veronica, quickly going around and closing the drapes to the windows as a precaution. The church was illuminated by the flickering orange glow of the candles’ flames, colored glass windows shining light through them as it gave the church an eerie feel. The benches were all unoccupied except the few pieces of trash and occasional Bibles. The floor was fairly clean as well, carpeted with a light blue color. In the front of the church was a platform and stand for earlier uses of priests, a red leather cover bible lay open on the wooden structure, the colors faded from use from it being unused.
After closing all the open drapes, Zachery sat down on the front row bench and assessed his wounds, going over the damage of his leg first. There were two 4 millimeter holes in his leg, one in his thigh and the other bellow his knee. Though, luckily, there was no lasting or severe damage. He was silent as he started to rip open his pant leg so he could use the material to stop the bleeding. The ripping echoing slightly off the empty walls of the church. As long as there was no enemies close by, he didn’t mind. Zachery quickly dressed his wounds as best as he could for now, using the ripped pieces of cloth as make-shift bandaging. As far as he knew, he was the furthest injured of the group so far. Four holes from the last attack, a minor scrape to his neck and a minor head wound. All weren’t severely lethal; the two holes in his leg were manageable, as were the hole in his right arm. He wasn’t able to use the remaining cloth to make a bandage for the wound in his chest, there simply wasn’t enough material. And even so, Zachery wasn’t willing to sacrifice his shirt for bandages just yet. So he pressed the cloth to the wound in his chest, hoping it would do for now.
He hadn’t been here long enough to know about this place, its occurrences, or its inhabitants, but he did know that these things appeared at night, and perhaps it would stay that way. Or at least that was what he silently theorized. He could manage the night with the wounds, but if he was right, and these things disappeared within the morning, then they would be able to travel to the nearest pharmacy or clinic to get real bandages and medicines to heal them. But considering the strange things, it would be hard to tell what was to come during the hours of this night. The strange masked beings were like ink, almost as if made from concentrated evil from the bowels of the city. Though he couldn’t help but wonder about what they were, why they wore masks, why the two looked more humanoid than the rest. Could they have been past souls? Or perhaps demons created by someone out there working for the city. It was unclear to Zachery, why they would suddenly come out of the night and attack. And by these people’s reaction to them, they mustn’t have done this before; it was most likely a new occurrence.

Chrystabelle followed the group into the church, gazing around the interior in extreme awe. She'd been surprised that she'd been allowed to enter at all; back in her own world right before she'd left home, she'd been banned and warned of the highest punishments if she ever attempted to do so. The few times she'd been inside one in her childhood, it never felt like anything special. This one, though it obviously hadn't seen any use in ages, made her feel a strange sort of energy that made her smile.
She followed Zachary to the front pew, placing her large, overstuffed backpack next to her and rummaging through its contents. She pulled out a blanket, which she offered to him. "I sometimes fall asleep in the library, so I started to bring this with me," she explained. She watched Veronica light the candles, enjoying the flickering of the flames. "It's nice in here," she stated quietly, feeling certain that the church was the best place they could be.

Asri brought Syl within the church, smiling as he took in the scenery. The church was still in poor shape, having not been fully repaired for the new inhabitants, but it was better than nothing. There were still holes in the roof, but the warm light of the candles more than made up for it for the uncomfortable feeling that the roof gave Asri. Thelr light flickered warmly off of the walls, falling upon the stained glass windows of the church. Some of these windows were either gone or broken... and in addition, many of the angel statues that adorned the walls had been decapitated... as if in an act of vandalism...
Asri sighed. It was such a tragedy that such beauty was lost - especially in fights and wars that it had no place in. Such was the case with a few of Luisine's churches during her petty wars with the fallowers of Nolokui. He then noticed the Christian Bibles that lay around the Church, and realized that this must be a Christian Church, dedicated to the belief in God rather than Luisine. It was still... strange though... as Luisine's churches had a striking resemblance to this... except that the sculptures were different, the stained glass windows were different, the details were different, but the basic shape of it was strangely similar.
In a way, it reminded Asri of his life, as a human, back when he was an Ilsvaran priest under the tutelage of Father Kaitravis, a high-ranked member of the church. A priest, last he remembered, that was one of the few that treated him well.
He quietly laid Syl down on a nearby bench, where it immediately turned over and snuggled against it to make itself more comfortable. Asri then went over to the injured man, taking out a small roll of bandages and placing it next to the man. The roll was mostly used up, but it would be just enough to bandage his injuries.
"If you don't want me to heal you now," said Asri, "you might as well take this. It'll save you a trip to the hospital, pharmacy or clinic to get them. If you need any more, all you have to do is ask me. I always carry medical supplies with me."
He then stood near the man, as he watched Veronica light the candles around them.
"I suppose this is a Christian church?" Asri asked her, smiling, "Hmm... what a welcoming place this, but due to its condition, I'm not sure if we'll have enough time to flee before they arrive, seeing as it won't take much effort on their part to come in through the roof. Still though, if you have anything to eat, I'd appreciate it." He sighed. Summoning those demons had taken a considerable part of his energy. And what's more, they were still around. They lingered in the area around the church, patrolling it, making low hissing, growling and scratching noises as they did so. If anyone here had keen ears, they would likely hear the strange sounds coming from outside the church.
However, if they went to investigate, the demons would vanish from sight. They may not be the most obediant summons, but Asri knew that they weren't stupid. They would go away when they felt like it, not because he asked them too. Well, he could ask them, but Asri could never rely on their ability to follow his orders... only their ability to protect him. Why else would they incessantly call him their master? Even now, he could hear their voices in his head...
Master, Master, Master...
While he stood there waiting for an answer, Asri silently prayed that this ordeal would be over soon.
Master, Master, Master...

Veronica blew out the match before replying to Asri, "Yes, this is a Christian Church. It was once home to the Lucis Patesco, a Christian-sect that served as the central religion to this city quite a long time ago. Johnny and I only began the reconstruction two months ago, its going to take quite awhile before we see it standing in its former glory.". Veronica motioned towards the alter and waved Asri her way. "There's food, medical equipment, and an assortment of guns and ammunition in the back. Directly beneath us lies catacombs, which lead out into the graveyard. We can flee there.".
Veronica motioned away from the alter and approached the pew where Syl lay. Kneeling before it, Veronica motioned to wave her fingers over its hair... She had missed it terribly.

Asri nodded at Veronica as he motioned towards her. That woman... Asri didn't know her and wasn't sure of her identity, and what's more, his link was Syl was usable at the moment... Syl's slumber was too deep to glean anything, so he would have to make do without it.
"I'll go get myself something to eat. Don't worry; I can cook," said Asri softly. "But if you so wish, I can wake up Syl... Hmm... I think it's rested for long enough."
Without even realizing it, Asri reached for his sanitizer, squirting some on his hands and rubbing them together. It was a habit he was accustomed to, to the point where if he failed to find any sanitizer, he would panic. The last city that he was in would have been reduced to a ghost town had he not stolen a few bottles from a nearby pharmacy.
"You've been doing a good job on the renovation, but the roof will need some work. I know someone that might be able to help with speeding up your work in restoring this place..."

Veronica turned her head as she replied, "Thank you. Johnny and I only started the other month, so we do have a long way to go. But if you can find someone who can help, it would be greatly appreciated."
Veronica turned back to Syl and asked Asri, "Do you think it would alright to wake Syl?".

"Meet me here after this ordeal is over and I'll persuade it to help you," said Asri with a chuckle. "With a little convincing, I might be able to get you its assistance."
He shrugged when Veronica asked if would be alright to wake up Syl. Honestly... it didn't really matter. Syl would just take a nap at some other time to compensate.
"I've known Syl for most of my life," said Asri, "you don't need to worry. It won't be overly happy when I wake it up, but considering the way you've been looking at it, I think you two will be having a lot of fun together."
And with that, he touched Syl's hand, muttering something under his breath. A spark left between them, and Syl's eyes shot open. It groaned, panting, eyes wide in surprise. At this point, its thoughts were too disorganized and confused to say much.
"What the... what happened?"
Asri kissed it on the forehead and ruffled its hair.
"I'm going to make myself some dinner, before informing you on the situation. This lady will keep you company."
Syl stared at Veronica and sat up, cocking its head.
"Forgive me, but... who are you again?" it asked, "ow, my head... Feels that I've been run over by a pancake flattener.*"
"It's temporary," explained Asri, "Syl doesn't 'sleep' the same way humans do; it's a dreamless rest where it basically reorganizes it thoughts and all that. Unfortunately, waking it up suddenly sometimes has a few temporary side-effects. Don't worry... they'll fade in a short period of time."
He stepped away, bowed curtly and walked off towards the back of the church.
"Now, I'll be in the back making myself dinner," he said to Syl, as he waved back at it. "Have fun, Syl!"

Veronica's eyes widened when Syl didn't recognize her, but it was the quick reply from Asri that gave her a semblance of assurance.
Veronica looked at Syl and said, "I'm Veronica, you'll remember me in a bit.".

Zachery nodded at Asri as he handed him the small roll of bandages. He was a strange man, but not human, it was easy to tell by his spiritual aura and how it accumulated itself. A rather unique Aura, that of a race that is close to spirits, just as he. Even so, Zachery didn’t tend to trust other races. He wouldn’t trust his own race unless it was close family. Which they all were a close-knit community, until Kankure came along. He destroyed everything, sending him here into this hell hole. He didn’t say anything as Asri got up and left to go get food, he didn’t want to talk unless necessary. He took off his shirt and wrapped the bandage around his chest, tying it off with a bit of difficulty, but managed. ‘A strange place…’ he thought to himself, watching the roof as he slipped his shirt back on. It had his favorite phrase on it as well, ’Same shit, different day’, which was true for the most part.
He looked toward the window as he heard the sort of gurgling growl come from outside, a shadow passed the window and moved on. Had they already found them? Or were they just lurking around in search? Zachery motioned for the others to stay quiet as he slowly stood up and walked over to the window. He placed his back to the wall and looked out the crack of the window, seeing only one of the small blobby monsters outside, sliding across the grass. But it wasn’t one of the normal ones, it had a gray cracked mask and barbs wire across its body. They were all a bunch of freaks, but this was perhaps a strong freak. Zachery mentally cursed and watched it for another moment. It stopped and turned at the window, forcing Zachery to duck. He quickly crouched bellow window view as it came towards the window and passed by. They would have to move out of the altar and go deeper to insure they wouldn’t be found.
As soon as the monster was away from the window, Zachery stood up and silently walked through the rows of benches and towards Veronica, “We can’t stay here, it’s too open.” he whispered. He wasn’t frantic or much disturbed by the fact that a strong monster outside was lurking around trying to find them. And if it did, it might call for backup. He looked at Syl for a moment, wondering if it could walk, but returned his view to Veronica. “We need to move deeper in the building if you don’t want to be caught by a killer oil blob with sharp wire.”
