John of the cross? Where have we heard that before?
Trace watched as Johnny stumbled backwards. He had done this, opened Johnny's eyes to the truth of himself.
"Do you see now Johnny? Your just like the rest of the residents of this damn city! Your broken, damaged goods. What are you Johnny? What did you do in the your past life?"

Anya lifted her chin as she watched the others. Too many beings were joining, not all human, but she still craved blood, it wasn't as bad as it had been before. She frowned as Trace was tormenting Johnny, and she stepped between them. "Don't play with Johnny."

The vampire, or half breed as she called herself, had stepped out in front of him. He wasn't happy about that, she played no part in what he was doing.
"Nobody is tormenting anyone. Dont you see, he's finally waking up."
What are you doing? We need their trust!

Tears began to roll down Johnny's eyes as he said, "Its alright, Anya. This had to happen sometime. I was John of The Cross and I did the one thing I was born to do... Kill. If anything, I was the living embodiment of God's will. People needed to die and that was where I came in." Johnny looked up and wiped the tears off his eyes as he said, "None of this goes to Veronica."

John of the Cross. Of course, God's right hand.
Trace considered this beautiful irony. A follower, or rather, a vessel of God's will. He had liked Johnny at first, he had seen him as a possible ally, but now, well now it had all changed.
"How does it feel to be a murderer John? And not just that, but to be a killer in God's name. In that damn pathetic excuse for a ruler's name John? Did it feel good when you took those people's life away just because God saw them as a threat?"

At the mention of Gods will, Myzraels attention turned to Johnny.
"Gods will is not to dictate who lives and who dies. Nor is it his will to give to people the power to decide fates of others. He only solemnly wishes that we make the right decisions and have the strength and fortitude to surpass the possible consequences of our actions'.
'You made a choice to kill, Johnny. And a choice to kill is not in Gods plan' He said, eyes flashing.

Johnny rose. Calmly, he replied, "You misunderstand me, my friends. I never killed in the name of God. Do you know how many unbelievers roam the Earth?! Killing them in God's name would only prove one point... Theirs. And it would be a waste of a life to kill them over someone they never spent their lives devoted to. No, I killed because its what I was born to do. I work for myself, my God, and people. In order for the world to work, it needs balance. Its needs the good, the bad, the rich, and the poor. There can't be too much of one thing. And that's where I stepped in... A killer of men. We're born with two certain dates: They day we were born and the day we died. I was born to take people to their deaths."

Myzrael turned away. 'Selfish, Johnny was, selfish. To take ones life for someone elses benefit. But arent we all a bit selfish'? He thought.
'There is only one Angel of Death, and you are not him, Johnny Tavalera. You as a human have no right to murder in order to 'balance' the right and the wrong in this world. Far be it from me to preach about integrity and peace' As he said this, his black wings reappeared; 'as my wings are testament to the wrath of the Almighty. However your compartmentalized and supposedly methodical killings cannot be justified in the way you so defend them'. His back remained turned, his wings slowly ruffling with the wind.

Anya turned to him, it startled her to learn that he was a killer for god. She was a vampire and only killed if it was necessary, she didn't even like to fight. She glanced to the other two, Trace and the angel. Johnny's past was just that, the past. "Everyone has a secret, look into your own deep, dark secret before you judge another's."

"Your both insane." Trace spoke calmly, a serious grin on his face. "Anybody who follows God is crazy, and deserves all the pain and suffering they recieve, and trust me, following him will lead you to a lifetime of suffering."
He stepped forwards, now an equal distance between Johnny and this newcomer with the wings.
"That is coming from the voice of experience."

'And i suppose this 'voice of experience' of yours has met the Almighty and basked in his presence and once held all understanding of things profound and mundane?' Myzrael said, eyes gazing steadily at Trace.
'We all follow our own paths. I suffered, and i am aware Johnny has as well. I think the question on our lips now is how come you hold such a jaded view of powers beyond your comprehension' he said delicately, a small smile forming on his lips. 'How childish of this being, to believe there is no divine order to all things, that all things lead to chaos.. Yet I cannot help but agree slightly with his views' Myzrael thought.

"Isn't this what you people wanted from me?", Johnny replied chuckling. "Ever since I came here, I did nothing but try to forget about what I've done and move on with whatever left of a life I have! I've withstood torture and abuse, and despite all that I've made it a point to reach out to you people... Does that account for nothing?!
Yes, I have killed... But that doesn't necessarily mean that every soul I took didn't come without sin."

Trace turned to Myzrael, his grin now faded, replace with a sickenly serious look. His eyes had turned red, and flames had erupted from his palms, his hands now englufed by fire without getting burned.
No, I've lost control, I cant hold on to him.
Trace opened his mouth to speak, but what came out was not that of a human voice, but a booming noise that could be heard throughout the city.
"Who are you to judge me. You believe that I am just some common non-believer? I know that he exists, and I have basked within his presence, as you so profoundly put it. But he is no kind ruler. He holds our kind down, he wanted me to be subjigated to humans, to accept them as my superior."
The skin on Trace's back tore open, and two bony skeletal wings came forward. What was once glorious now resorted to death.
"He sent me down below because I would not obey him. Until you have seen the wrath of God, you have no right to accuse me of being unknowledgable."

'Demon?' Myzrael said as a question, holding his poise. His wings went a bit taut, at seeing the flames.
'I have seen the wrath of the Almighty, infidel. We may be more similar than you think. Whether you are unknowledgable or not is of no consequence. You believe i will subjugate myself to your twisted understanding of his divine will? I shall not!' Myzraels wings opened wide, and his eyes shone with energy. Dark flames materialized and danced and swirled at Myzraels feet.
'I was of the divine order of Thrones in his court, second only in power to the sacred Seraphim. Speak then, if you are of the Elohim, and grace us with your story of your fall, and if you indeed fell because of curiosity, as I did, or of indolence to the Almighty.' Myzrael said, his hands at his sides.

"I am no Demon, but rather, as these humans put it, a Fallen Angel. But you also underestimate my status. I am a Seraph, the highest of all the Angelic spheres. But I was not one of the pathetic Seraph, those who praised God's work night and day."
Trace's voice had now quietened, as to now explode the eardrums of those nearby.
"But when God created this humanic population, he believed them superior. I was not instructed to bow at first, and hence this is why I was not banished with Lucifer. But following the battle of the Heavens God demanded complete subjigation from our ranks. He wanted to strip us of our free will. That is not something that I would allow. Hence I was banished to the abyss. I remember little of my time down there, but evidently I have recently escaped."
