"Nothing interesting, really." Bryony said, shrugging. There was an awkward silence. Bryony entertained herself by experimenting what shapes she could make the smoke form with her tongue.

"Well maybe, we can orient you about Animus?! Any questions?" Daemon was rather disturbed by the smoke.

Syl gave her a friendly smile. It thought that it was a good idea to be nice to her. Besides, she was obviously confused about it, and perhaps there was something Syl could do to help.
"Yeah. We've been here for months," it saidin a friendly tone, "so we know our way around here. We're here to help. Is there anything you'd like to know?"

"Well, what is life like in Animus? You know, crime, politics, stuff like that?" Bryony asked.

"Politics suck. No governing body that I know. Crime, depends, I have met a Clown and an Alien dude who think they are kings of this world. Depends and people here are mindless, no such thing as currency. Take whatever you like, really. Nothing new, same old same old," Daemon said gulping down his drink, "maybe Syl has a better idea. I haven't seen everything yet."

Bryony was shocked at the response. "Nothing new? You mean, no new inventions or anything?" Was it possible that there was a world where technology never moved forward? "Don't you ever get bored?"

"Hell yeah I am bored. Reason why I explore, lots of interesting people, creatures and things here. I was born on the year 2012, and am three hundred years old, but look seventeen--long story. This place seems to be back around the year 2000 But I have seen a lot of things, eventually gets boring, this is one of the cases. Reason why I scout around and explore," Daemon carried his poker face quite well, he was really bored.

Syl chuckled and nodded, putting a hand to its forehead. This girl really was new.
"Maybe Syl has a better idea. I haven't seen everything yet."
"I suppose," said Syl, "I wander waround this place a lot, so I have a good idea of what the city is like! Allow me to explain! There are no politics here as you know it because almost everyone else here is mindless, so there's no real government because there's no politicians to vote for. Crime? Well... almost everyone here is mindless so there's no law enforcement, so we can do whatever we want. Steal, break and enter, kill the mindless, get free meals at restaurants... you name it, you can do it here with no police to stop you. Whether there are actual repercussions is yet to be seen as Animus does have its monsters that pop up from time to time, summoned by someone called 'The Black Goat,' so I wouldn't advise going any further than stealing what you need and getting free meals.
"The only people you have to be careful of are the more unsavoury residents here. Like the clown and alien being that Daemon mentioned. You have to be careful of them; because they might be a danger to you."
Syl shrugged.
"Other than that, living here is manageable, because all the necessities for life are here; you just have to find them. Shops get restocked, restaurants still operate, hotels get cleaned and houses can be taken over by any non-mindless that even bothers, no real-estate necessary... the mindless still go on with their daily lives. It's just no use talking to them as their intelligence is limited at best. Many of those in positions like as secretaries and clerks don't pay attention though, that's why can you walk into stores and offices and do whatever you want. There are also no reporters and TV broadcasters here, so there are no new shows... only recordings left behind from the past."
Its smile grew wider.
"Any more questions?"

"So, what is the average life-span of creatures here? Or does it depend on what they are?" Bryony knew that werewolves lived for a good few thousand years, the odd few even lived to twenty thousand, but would this strange, new world affect that?

Syl shrugged.
"It depends on your species," it said, "Daemon here is about... well... he's older then he looks. I haven't asked him. For me? I have no clue how old I am, but suffice to say, I'm also older then I look. Our lifespans here vary depending on what we are and how we handle ourselves here."

"Phew." Bryony was safe. She was only about a hundred years old. She had ages of her life left. Bryony took another drag of her cigarette before dropping it on the floor and stepping on it. "So, I'd better get back to my place. How about we trade numbers?" She got her phone out of her pocket that she'd kept with her ever since she wound up in this place.

Daemon nodded, "sweetheart, I am sorry to inform you but there is no signal here," Daemon said smiling. "Unless your phone does not need signal," he chuckled, in his time, no such things as phones, they were microchips implanted in their brain, this was how they communicated.

Syl cocked its head. It was secretly relieved that she had stopped smoking (its lungs had already began to hurt), but was otherwise frustrated with her belief that this was an ordinary modern world, because it wasn't. Syl was still clueless about most human technology, and this thing she held in her hand was no exception, but it decided against asking because it wanted to make itself look like a knowledgeable being... even though there were some areas beyond its comprehension.
"Most modern companies don't work here and there is no real government, so not all services are offered," said Syl, "that's why there are no legal, monetary, bureaucratic, psychological and medical services offered here. I suppose this extends to most electronic services as well."

"My time is utterly different compared to this...." Daemon commented as he made his way to the street, "I am going to go to the lake, come if you wish. Feel like killing pixies, need to release some tension. Besides, those things almost killed me and my friend."

"What?!" Bryony exclaimed. The girl practically lived on her cell. She threw her phone on the ground in frustration. The phone smashed to pieces which scattered across the concrete.
