Stepping through the entrace curtian, there were so many tings rushing through his mind. A long time ago, winning a match meant nothing to him. It was pretty simple, if he won, he won; if he lost, he lost. Then not too long ago, he started to lose. And no matter how much he gave of himself and how hard he fought, Wayne always seemed to be on the losing end.
At first, it was something he shrugged; as far as the man was concerned, it was a phase and nothing more. And then shit, he started to lose. All the losses, maxed with him running the WFWF and all the backstage bullshit, was enough for him to turn away from the WFWF completely- the very place, not three years ago he had dedicated his life to.
After the WFWF, Wayne tried to establish himself elsewhere, but after awhile it all seemed pretty pointless. There wasn't a damn thing he could do to get himself over; to make a couple bucks. After a few months, a match that literally took place in an abandoned house, Wayne moved on.
For good... So it seemed.
It was all Vanessa's fault, really.
Wayne stepped backstage to the sight of Vanessa and Kurt standing there, it was almost as if they were waiting for him. Vanessa rushed to him and coved him with her arms, shouting out, "You did it!".
Yeah, it was Vanessa's fault. She had reason too. Just like himself, she still had the desire and the urge to get back into the ring. There was still so much she hadn't accomplished yet, and somehow, she knew he had a lot in him too. The thing about Vanessa is that she senses things. Sometimes, they don't even have to exchange words, she'll just go out there and do it. God, she's angel. She knew they both had a lot to prove and despite all his protest, she went at it headstrong.
Wayne kissed her as he took her in his arms and replied softly, "Yeah, I did."
Kurt came over and gave Wayne a pat on the back and said, "Congratulations, man.".
Wayne pulled away from Vanessa and gave Kurt a hug and replied, "Thanks, man!".
Kurt took the hug as a shock and turned to Vanessa as he asked, "What the hell has gotten into him?".
Vanessa smiled as she crossed her arms and replied, "He's just happy."
Wayne motioned off Kurt and replied, "Yeah, I am."
Vanessa looked at Wayne and said, "I don't think I've ever seen you like this."
Wayne smiled back and replied, "Its only for tonight.".
To Vanessa, there was something contagious about it; Wayne's happiness. Something down south of her waist wanted to know what else it was capable off. Vanessa shot him that look she gave him everytime she wanted something; a yearning but innocent look that had "Give it to me" written all over it. Wayne looked back at her with a wink that was enough to satisfy her queery; "Of course, but later, much later".
Wayne stepped away from the both of them and asked, "What the hell happened out there awhile ago?".
Kurt slung the International title over his shoulder and embraced Vanessa as he replied, smiling, "It was all part of the plan!".
Wayne looked at Vanessa and asked, "And you were ok surrendering the title like that?".
Vanessa shot back a smile and replied, "Yeah, it was a necessary evil.".
"Was it?", Wayne asked.
Kurt injected himself in and said, "Wayne, you heard what we both said out there. And by now, you probably have an idea of what Vanessa and I talked about, so I'm asking you this, are you in?".
Wayne smiled back and said, "This was all Vanessa's idea was it?".
Kurt nodded and replied, "It sure was!".
"What the hell, I'm in!", Wayne shouted as hugged both Kurt and Vanessa. The two were both taken back by Wayne's sudden display of affection.
"Jesus Christ, McGurk. What the hell has gotten into you?!", Kurt sarcastically lamented.
Vanessa turned her head to Kurt and said, "Cut him a break, he's happy!".
In the arena behind them, the sound of Kurt's entrance music, Fozzy's "With The Fire", began to play. Kurt pulled away and said, "That's me. Should I expect the two of you to stick around or is this goodbye?".
Wayne held Vanessa closer and said, "We'll see.".
