There he stood, lurking; waiting for the unlucky fellow who would fall in his snare.... and snap it did. He went over the creaking trees who's branches sounded like a soar-throat. There the victim stood-- foot literally trapped in a snare; hands folded together, and face displeased. Moments later, the victim spoke....
"Leon, what are you doing?" she said, her voice ever so familiar.
"Effy, what are you doing there?"
"Looking for you, what else."
"Well, in that case, you found me. The booger is stuck up my nose again and needs some picking out," he said, Effy's face contorted, Leon sighed, "her."
Her....her....her....reverberated through the woods; penetrating faster and stronger than any metal, emotion, or voice. Who was this 'her?' and why was she here?

"Well that isn't the right way to treat a lady, now is it?"
The voice came from a particularly thick crop of trees, meaning he couldn't be seen when he spoke. He walked out from the trees, his eyes fixed on the two, the male named Leon and the female called Effy. The man was perfect by human standards. His eyes alone held enough charisma to charm almost any human woman and his face often led to women falling for him, almost seeming like it was sculpted by an expert to envision perfection. When he spoke his voice almost sounded like music and while there was vanity in his voice it was most certainly deserved.
"So, are you tired of looking at me yet?" he spoke immodestly, his words coming from experience of the women he had knew in prior times. "If so why don't we all just get along, before I am forced to act in a most unwanted manner."
It was obvious from his mannerisms that he was not joking. This man meant what he said. While he was the physical definition of compose there was something odd about him, like an edge to his attitude that could not be picked up upon. An edge that often resulted in bloodshed if anyone attempted to challenge him to prove his word with action.
"By the way, you can call me Caleb." he finished with a smile.

Asri took pride in maintaining an impeccable appearance. Sure he was practically a walking plague factory, but that was against the clichés that most people believed in. In fact, Asri speculated that Nokolui chose to curse him specifically for his beauty. Beauty was a free ticket in most worlds where humans were dominant; Asarek knew that better than anyone else as he used it as a way to squirm his way through to survival, even while it tended to make him a rape magnet sometimes.
Still, it often got him favours in terms of free passes, which only added onto his list of things to worry about now. He didn't want to start another damned pandemic.
Asarek stared at the mirror in his room at the hotel, these thoughts going through his head. He saw his reflection in the mirror, staring back at him. His face was very beautiful and smooth indeed, with enough androgyny to cause others difficulty in determining his gender. Still, it was so beautiful that it enchanted pretty much everyone he met, except Syl and Kiel, which often resulted him in having entire fanclubs devoted to him, made up of both men and women.
He looked at himself again and sighed, noting that his long hair had turned from silver to purple, and his eyes from green to purple as well...
"Nokolui, you bastard," he whispered, "how the hell am I supposed to return to Luthis looking like this?!"
Purple was one of Nokolui's favourite colours.
Asarek contemplated punching the mirror in frustration, but decided against it. Because of his curse, Asarek found that drawing his blood forth was not a good idea. Those blood monsters were veritable pests to deal with.
Instead, to vent out his pain, or perhaps calm it, he simply grabbed his bag and headed out into the forest. This bag was light, as it only contained what he needed - money, hand sanitizers, a copy of the Book of Ilsvari and tissues.
About partway through his walk, he heard strange noises. Curious, he ventured closer.
Asri absentmindedly took out some of his hand sanitizer and rubbed his hands with it as he approached the group. By now, it was safely stored in his bag.
"Am I disturbing anything?" he asked in a smooth voice, giving them a charming smile.

Aphrodina set herself free from the trap. She enjoyed the scent of the cool air as it circulated into her system and out, the trees around her matched her eyes: all iridescent prisms. Best of all: no barren in sight, just pure lush. Erlahnia was near, the people of the lush as it was known and Aphrodina belonged to it. A little jittering bug had bit her, filled her up with excitement and joy which she was able to keep hushed. Until she heard two voices unfamiliar to her; she could not help but turn almost ready to attack.
Leon bowed his head as he saw Aphrodina's reaction, "its fine, Aphrodina, play by ere, dear," he said in Purgatoric.
Aphrodina nodded, cooling herself down and facing the visitors, both enticing in their own way, and definitely unfamiliar to her homeland. "I apologized, I am Aphrodina and this is--"
"Leon. Call me Leon." he interrupted, for he knew that it was not wise to reveal who he was. "How are you enjoying your day in this color book we are in?"
Despite, Aphrodina being accustomed to her Lord's metaphors said as a device to confuse and seem weaker to them, she could not help but roll her eyes every time. They rather became corny, even if she knew they were his little strategic means of breaking ice and boredom.

"How are you enjoying your day in this color book we are in?"
"So you do funny little metaphors then," Caleb said, walking slowly around them, circling the pair as he got a good look at them. He wasn't too worried about what kind of threat they may possess as he was perfectly capable of handling his own in a fight, utilizing his... talents to the best of their abilities. "How very enjoyable for you."
He turned the other way, not wanting to get too close to the other man that had appeared. At least he had the aura of a man, his features had a female tint to them, and Caleb could tell that he had taken part in some form of cosmetic surgery. This man obviously had an obsession with appearances but then, not everyone was born with Caleb's beauty and grace, something which he often forgot.
"So, these metaphors, what are they for? Do they help you appear friendlier or maybe less intimidating? Maybe you just like metaphors, its always a possibility." Caleb spoke melodically, his voice almost like music giving it an un-intimidating tone to it. "And then there's always the other thing - why speak Purgatoric when you are unaware of whether your new acquaintances speak it? It isn't very welcoming."
Caleb was aware that his comment about being able to speak Purgatoric may surprise the two, it wasn't exactly a commonly spoken language.

Asri watched the whole scene impassively, with his arms crossed, tapping his foot impatiently. He rolled his eyes not at the couple that had caused this commotion, but at the other man.
What a joke, this was! Looking at Asri like that. Asri was proud of his appearance for a reason. It was capable of drawing both both men and women to him, which he never hesitated to use to his advantage. With the right clothing and make up, he could easily get straight men to date him, and they wouldn't know better until they attempted to get him into bed with them. Stealing made easy.
... The expressions on their face once they found out the truth were priceless too.
Asri wasn't born beautiful, unlike his siblings. He had to find other ways to get it, and the priests that did just that for him did a superb job for being mere humans... Mere humans? What was he thinking...? It made him wonder how much humanity he had left in him.
Nonetheless, Asri wasn't really liking this man much at all. His mannerisms, his way of speaking, in conjuction with his very good looks, marked him (to Asri) as one of those fools who took their beauty for granted, looking down upon others who weren't born with it. He had lived long enough to a good amount of them, and he was a lawyer, too. Meeting a lot of people was part of the job. In a way Asri was jealous of this guy, in another he was disgusted. Asri knew better than to take his beauty for granted.
"Neither are you," said Asri softly, "so why don't you honour them with an introduction if you hold yourself in so high regard?"

"so why don't you honour them with an introduction if you hold yourself in so high regard?"
"Hold myself in high regard? Why would I have need to do that? It is the people that praise me that hold me in regard, the people who call me a prophet and a Saint. And as I already informed you all, my name is Caleb. You need not know anything else."
This man seemed to look upon him with contempt, but maybe that it was just jealousy poorly hidden. Caleb was used to that, the people he met often fell into two categories. There were those that praised him, that adored him, that savored his presence and saw it as a gift. Then there were those that were angry and jealous at his natural beauty, who showed anger and contempt because they were not as lucky.
The others, the people who showed neither of these reactions were the only people that ever received Caleb's respect, for it was these people that had self respect, that had their own thought processes and made their own decisions based upon the actions of the individual, not just his blinding beauty.
"Why is that you show contempt to me when you know nothing of me?" Caleb spoke melodically to Asri. "You should base your opinions not on beauty, or rather your lack of natural beauty, but upon the person who breathes underneath. Or have you become so convoluted with all the work that has gone into your face that you can no longer see the natural beauty of the individual?"

Time was ticking and she would soon arrive. She now sat on her golden threaded bed, waiting for her golden heels to arrive and as soon as they did, she would take off and visit him once more. How she regretted seeing his face, especially after the incident that took place a hundred years back.
Poor warrior, almost beaten down by her--everything about her allured him, from her simplistic beauty and elegance surpassed anyone that challenged her, her looks exotic to any foreigner---appealing them even more. Serving an asset and also a deadly illness.
Knocking had echoed throughout her bedroom and she answered the door. There they were, golden, shimmering, and splendid. There they were... Her nightingales as they were known.

"Ah, sorry that I missed it," said Asri. "But I'd say the same thing about myself as well. What do you know of me, hmm? What do you know about me other than first impressions?"
It was true in a way. Asri's 'seen it all' view towards the world, even while being well over two thousand years old had pretty much allowed him to easily categorize people. The difference that most people weren't aware of was that he was open to change his perceptions of people, just as he did with Kiel. Still, Asri thought, if this man appreciated those who did not take him at face value, he wondered if he was hypocritical enough to take Asri himself at face value, as a pathetic person obsessed with his looks. While Asri was indeed obsessed with his looks to a degree, there was more to him than that. Far more. I'm not just a baggled bunch of mental problems, thought Asri, even if I wonder why he doesn't take me seriously. Is it because he pities me for not being born with beauty.
In part, Asri wanted to test Caleb. Was he was hypocritical as he once was, as a believer in the 'new' faith created by the Islvaran Church? Asri didn't like meeting new people, due to his condition, but he wanted to see how this would play out.
"My opinions of people are not set in stone, Caleb," said Asri. "Provided that the person I’m dealing with is not vain and superficial themselves, and it doesn’t help that you walk around as if you’re God’s gift to women. It’s because of who they are inside that I treasure my two best friends, and… various other people. If you so wish, we can get past the first impressions and start anew, hmm?”
Asri gave him a friendly smile, all resentment quickly vanishing from his face and body.
“My name is Asarek Sazsaroziel,” he said, “Asri, for short.”

Aphrodina bit her lip as she looked at Leon. She was coming. She was coming and Aphrodina could sense it; no good came from her or Aphrodina's stomach. Aphrodina was famished and eager to become her natural form and hunt for a lovely dish....
Leon nodded as he saw Aphrodina's face, signaling her to wait. "I understand we are having a very interesting meeting and I must go, see you around...and don't create chaos..." he said, "or you'll see my face again," he grumbled softly after.
Aprodina obediently followed Leon, he stopped her and in Filipino told her to wait. That he was sure no one knew how to speak. He smiled, he was glad he befriended the Filipino guy in his gang way back, and was a good thing Aphrodina was a natural translator, with the ability to convert any language to her native tongue: kluckkluck (purgatoric dialect).
