Soloman leisurely strolled through the bright streets of Animus city, sunglasses covering his eyes. He was silent, as he almost always was. The only sound he made was footsteps as his boots hit the asphalt street.
He curved to the right, entering a small restaurant. Soloman sat himself, and when the waitress came to his table, pointed at the food on the menu. He didn't trust verbal communication with the mindless, even if they were proficient in it. She nodded, slowly walking back towards the kitchen. He folded his gloved hands, sitting upright against the leather booth seat.
If only someone would join him...

Syl walked down the streets, Asri right next to it. Ever since the previous events, Asri had become almost inseparable from Syl, and quite frankly, apart from brief intervals where he had to self-medicate himself. Still though, Asri drove the loneliness away from Syl, and made it happier here now that it friend that could stand by it no matter what. It was heartlifting.
"Come on, Asri," said Syl, "there has to be something we could do... We've been tot he library, and you've picked on something called 'World War II,' we've been to the arcade and tried out those wonky machines, we've been to the..."
It pulled Asri along by the wrist. Asri groaned as Syl prattled on about where they had been. If he didn't medicate himself - and thus appear asymptomatic even while he had several illnesses raging in his body at once. Even so, Asri was not particularly fit, and was already panting from running around everywhere at Syl's whims.
"Alright, alright! I get it!"
Syl grinned at him. It understood that he was tired, and had sympathy for his weak body.
"Come on, Asri..." it said.
It led him down to where the restaurants were. In a way, Asri was grateful for Syl being considerate with him. It had somehow picked up that he was dead hungry, and had led him to the most sensible place to go - a restaurant.
Unlike Asri, Syl had its aura sensing capabilities were already working, scanning the area for any signs of non-mindless life. Syl aimed for at least modified humans or those with special powers, perhaps non-humans if there was one in the area.
Sensing an aura, Syl immediately gravitated towards it, eager for more company, and hoping... just hoping.. .that it was Klaire. That aura felt a bit similar to Klaire but in other ways... it was different. Syl hoped that those medications hadn't run out for her... that something terrible didn't happen to her as a result.
"Come on," said Syl, as it entered the restaurant with the mysterious aura.
Asri didn't even get past the door, as he fell to his knees, panting heavily. Syl had a habit of pushing his body to its limits sometimes, and while it strengthed his muscles a bit, it hurt like Hell. He groaned as he attempted to regain his breath, as Syl waltzed happily in.
There it saw a peculiar man, with blond hair and sunglasses... he looked older... perhaps in his thirties or forties... nothing like Klaire, despite his aura. Syl analyzed his body language, noting the way he sat, as if expecting someone to come along.
"Um... Hi there!" said Syl, grinning. "Are you new here?"

"Not really," Soloman replied slowly. His voice almost echoed ominously, but the non-acoustic material absorbed just a bit too much of the sound.
~SYL!~ Klaire screamed in Soloman's mind. He put on a friendly smile, although it was more to Klaire's struggling than to Syl's greeting.
~Silence, you foolish girl! He can not hear you, nor will he ever hear you again!~ Soloman thought in angry response. He motioned towards the seats across from him. "Come, sit, it's nice to see some non-mindless people," he said, the warm, inviting smile still decorating his face. He was silently studying their builds, and noticed one of the two men was rather... short, a meager 5'6.
Then again, Syl wasn't human or a male, going off of Klaire's ramblings. The other man was a mystery to him. Not knowing if Syl and the other men knew his name, he extended a gloved hand.
"I'm Johnathan Baker, but you can call me John," Soloman said, creating a fake identity.

Syl grinned at the man as it waved at him. While it had its suspicions, it decided to give him a chance. Perhaps the resemblance in their aura was coincidental? It was rare, but sometimes, just as with appearances, auras could resemble each other in strange ways even if the two people were not biologically related.
"Pleased to meet you, Mr. John!" it said happily.
Syl bowed low.
"My name's Sylredrae, or Syl, for short."
It grinned at the man, then turned back toward the door. Just within the restaurant, it found Asri, panting for breath. It felt some sympathy for his weak body, and gratefulness that he managed to survive the trip. It helped that he was also recently medicated as well.
Syl knelt down beside him and put a hand on his shoulder, smiling warmly.
"Are you alright?"
Asri nodded, still panting heavily.
"... Yeah."
"Sorry about that," replied Syl, "I promise that we'll stay in one place next time... I just wanted to show you around a bit... Maybe we did a little too much running... I just hope... that I didn't..."
Asri smiled shyly as he staggered to his feet, accutely aware of the man sitting a few tables away. His gaze was like a piercing needle. Asri's instincts told him one thing immediately - don't trust him. There was something about him... that reminded Asri of some of the bastards that they had met in the past.
Nonetheless, like Syl, he showed no signs that he too was analyzing the situation. With Syl child-like and Kiel busy... he felt that he had to do whatever was needed to look after it.
"N-no problem," he said, "I'm... I'm fine..."
Syl cocked its head in concern.
"You sure? I don't want you fainting on me, you know."
Asri chuckled and put a hand on his forehead.
"Don't worry," he said, "I won't. I promise."
He then ruffled Syl's hair affectionately, giving it his most charming smile.
"You worry too much, Syl," he said, "go on. I'm right behind you."
There was a moment's silence, as Syl cocked its head, still looking concerned, before it nodded, hugged Asri and dragged him to where Mr. John sat, grinning happily. It threw itself onto the seat, while Asri sat down next to him gently on the chair, looking at it, and then elsewhere, as if his mind was somewhere else. In truth, that was false - he was thinking up ways of how this could go wrong, and formulating plans that they could use to escape. He had to ensure Syl's safety. He loved Syl so much, that he could not bear to see it suffer. Syl smile and personality... it made him enjoy life and enjoy having friends rather than wallowing in his own misery. Right now, Asri found it best to keep quiet and watch.
Syl, meanwhile, had none of that on its mind. Its attention was focused on Mr. John, as it gazed at him with eager eyes. With Asri here to protect him in face of this strange man, Syl felt no need to put on an impassive face - all it had to do now was be itself. Like Asri, it felt like there was something 'off' about him... the way he said his name... Syl had a feeling... that he wasn't being completely honest with himself... Syl didn't quite trust him either - it was skilled at reading people, and it was often involuntary clues that led it to believe that he wasn't totally being true to himself.
Nonetheless, Syl shook his hand and grinned happily.
"What brings you here, Mr. John?" asked Syl, in its usual cheery tone, "did you come for the sugar drinks? Or the food? Wow... I wish I could eat solid food..."

Soloman was indeed confused when the boy wished he could eat solid food. "The food," he answered calmly. Shifting in his seat, he inquired Syl quietly. "What do you mean you wish you could eat solid foods? If you couldn't eat them, would you not have died in this city a long, long time ago? They don't have the necessary equipment for a liquid diet in the hospital, last time I checked."
The waitress approached with his food. Soloman gave a quiet thank you, and after putting a piece in his mouth, returned to talking. "Unless, of course, you're not human..."

Syl was confused. The Mr. John talked about it, it almost seemed like he pitied it. How troublesome. While Syl at times wished that it could eat solid food, it didn't really see it as a hindrance. For one thing, it didn't need to get rid of the indigestible parts.
"You mean it's a bad thing?" asked Syl, cocking its head in confusion, "to me, it just means that I'm different, that's all. Interpret that as you will."
Asri, obviously annoyed, elbowed Syl playfully.
"Damn, you've made me hungry, Syl," he said, smiling. "Waitress lady, get me what he's having. And get sugar and juice for Syl."
The waitress nodded and disappeared into the depths of the restaurant. Asri sat back confidently.
"If there are no machines that provide a liquid diet," said Asri in a rational, calm tone, "then you haven't been looking hard enough. I know that hospital better than the back of my hand. Trust me, somewhere in its depths, there are colon cancer patients and others that need such equipment. Not very many, I'd say, but a few. That's why you never see the equipment being used."
Syl elbowed Asri back. Asri didn't show much reaction, being used to this sort of behaviour. It was indicative of playful banter towards them, even if it didn't appear as such at first glance.
"Oh come on," growled Syl, "don't ruin the mood."
"I wasn't," he replied, "I was only stating facts. I know this because I spent weeks there."
"That's why your social life needs work," said Syl, "you need a date."
Asri chuckled, and crossed his arms, looking at Syl with an amused expression on his face.
"Then you'll have to do better than this," he said, "I have horrible luck with romance, and to top it off, my last girlfriend died from cancer a while back. Not very pleasant to see someone you love dying before your eyes. I think her name was..."
Syl shook its head.
"Your past girlfriends' names are irrelevant to this conversation," it said, "and you're being depressing again!"
Syl tugged at his cheek.
"Lighten up, will you? It's not like you have worms in your gut, right?"
There was an awkward silence.
Suddenly, the two of them burst into laughter, at the same time, with no warning whatsoever. Syl laughed at its own joke. Asri laughed at how Syl failed at making it really light-hearted to him. After all, it was personal to him, as his physical health wasn't exactly exemplary by angel standards. Intentional or not, Syl amused him. The master of non-serious and pointedly logically screwed jokes was Kiel as far as Asri was concerned.
Syl was the one who stopped laughing first. As Asri was still laughing (eventually descending into another coughing fit), it clasped its hands on its chest.
"Oh, sorry for ignoring you there, Mr. John," said Syl, grinning cheerfully, "my sincerest apologies. Um... uh... ah... Where were we?"
