Karashi walked up and down the rows. She didn't know what the words meant, but she didn't really care. She loved seeing all of the books, lined up on the shelves. They were all nice and neat and smelled like the library. She smiled to herself, loving this whole place. If only she knew what all these words meant.

Asri, meanwhile, was sitting comfortably at a chair in the library, reading a history book on World War II, a devastating war on Earth that had taken a great toll on the lives of many people, all because of hatred and racial prejudice. Asri found it disgusting, really, how brutally they killed and persecuted each other, of the atrocities committed... he despised the concentration camps in particular. It was mind-boggling to him how people could allow themselves to hurt others so brutally and kill them so heartlessly when they had done nothing wrong. There was a reason why He disliked war and violence, because he experienced it first-hand, but nothing that he had encountered was worse than this. It was partly why he was beginning to resent humanity in general, never mind the fact that he was once human himself.
The Holy Virtues that Her Lady Luisine praised were all but absent in most humans Asri had encountered until now. While some humans had them, they were a minority, unfortunately. Even on Asri's homeworld, last time he was there. It was why so few humans became angels after their death, because of their own selfishness, which saddened Asri. Luthis was a wondrous city only accessible to Luisine herself and her holy servants. Asri felt honoured to have been able to live there. It was like Heaven, and while he lived there, he was... happy. It was a shame that so few could experience it.
Honesty.
Love.
Selflessness.
Empathy.
Unity.
Perseverence.
Respect. Those virtues were valued by Luisine (among others), and by extension, Her angels as well, and Asarek was no exception. While not perfect, he did his best to adhere to his faith as an angel of Luisine. She had given him a second chance at life, and Asri was determined not to lose it. Without the immortality to aging that was granted to him after becoming an angel... what hope did he have of being able to keep up with Syl and Kiel in terms of lifespan? Especially with Azrael's power?
Asri cared more for Syl than any of his other 'friends' back in Heaven. Syl was just... it just seemed to bring out the best in him... in a way... it could effortlessly accomplish with him what most other people could take weeks to do. It was amazing, and Asarek felt grateful to fate for allowing him to meet Syl... In the past... that was... Asri sighed and began with his prayers.
"Please hear me, Lady of Light," whispered Asri, clasping his hands and closing his eyes, "I pray that such events should never sully the soil depended on by the pure and faithful, and the city of Her holy servants of light. I have faith, my Lady, Eternal Light of Salsaria... I have faith... that someday, fate will smile upon me..." ***
Asri spent the next few minutes in prayer, the book still on his lap. Luisine... Asri's patron diety, the one that turned him into an angel after his death. He prayed to Her, for happiness, for the best, for a good future... It was, simply put, a vestige of his life as a human. While he was only with the Ilsvaran priesthood for several years, he had learned much, and eventually became dedicated into the faith. They had taken him in after his own family had rejected him. They helped him, and he wanted to repay the favour by remaining true to Luisine's ideals... or, more accurately, the old faith, before the Ilsvaran Church became corrupt.
When he was done, he tossed the book aside into the pile of the rest of the books he had spent the last two hours reading, preferring to the let the mindless reshelve such an unpleasant record of the past. Asri was fond of history, but this was horrifying enough to be among the the most atrocious histories that he had ever had the misfortune to stumble upon. Humanity was cruel indeed. And so was fate.
Asri wondered how a passerby would react, if they understood what he was muttering. He didn't exactly look like a light angel. Dark purplish hair, purple eyes, a pale complexion, black wardrobe... Asri chuckled at himself, considering that purple was a colour associated with Nokolui. The only aspect that pointed to him being a servant of light was his very beautiful appearance, and today, he had not made an exception at looking at his best. Kiel had warned him that residents could be encountered anytime, anywhere, so Asri decided to listen and take the proper measures.
He then smiled as he gracefully rose to his feet and began to walk through the aisles in search of more books. That last book had been the last in his reading pile of history books, the subjects of which ranged from the petty squabbles of medieval royalty to the industrial revolution to developments in medicine to even histories on cultures that Asri had never heard of before, and that were obviously not from Earth. It was amazing for most part. Then again, Asri was more fond of reading about how people lived in the past than the endless wars and battles and conflicts that plagued so many cultures. While Syl was resting peacefully on the roof, he thought that he might as well go fetch some more before going back to check on it... Maybe in a few more hours? Asri enjoyed the library too much.
Asri walked throught he library gracefully, keeping a lookout for any book that could interest him. He sensed another resident nearby, an aura that he didn't remember. Whatever the case, Asri was curious. It would only be a matter of time before they crossed paths._____________________________________________________________________________ *** A/N - Asri is speaking in his native language, an old Salsarian dialect that was the international language in his time.

Karashi continued walking the aisles, looking sideways at the titles of the books. She really didn't understand them, but it wasn't like she had anything better to do.She turned and headed into the next aisle and saw a man. She locked eyes with him, smiled, and then went back to looking at the books sideways. Her ears were cocked, trying to see if the man was talking to himself or saying anything. She kept taking side glances at him, her heart fluttering. She didn't know why, but she didn't like the feeling either. It felt as if she were going to get sick. She frowned, holding her stomach, trying to focus on the books to ease her nerves.

Asri caught sight of the girl as he was reaching for an interesting-looking book on a man called 'Isaac Newton.' There was something about here that he couldn't place his finger on. Somehow... he didn't know. There was something about her that drew him to her. Asri picked out the book he wanted, including another on the history of 'American Law' and another on the 'Charter of Human Rights.'
The girl before him was pretty by his standards, slender and innocent-looking, but he knew better than to judge by appearances. She seemed to be the young and shy sort or person, seeing as how she kept making side glaces at him. Asri decided to to be careful so as not to upset her - he didn't want any enemies in his desire to protect Syl. That would be very inconvenient.
He smiled as he approached the girl, worries secretly nagging on his mind about how he looked like. He wore a large bag comfortably at his left side, supported by his neck and right shoulder by means of a long strap. In his left arm, he held the three books that he had picked out and the fingers of his right hand were playing coyfully with his hair.
"Um... Excuse me miss," he said politely, "are you alright? Is there anything I can help you with?"

Karashi saw the man and blushed, looking at another book. She didn't want to make it seem to obvious, but apparently she did anyway, seeing as he had come over to her. She panicked inside, and her stomach ache got worse. She held her stomach, but smiled at him with a fake smile. Her heart started beating faster, and she looked at a book to try and calm herself down. "I-I think so....Maybe not....." She couldn't stop her stomach or her heart from fluttering. She felt as if she was going to be sick. She held her stomach tighter, moaning.

Asri simply smiled at the girl's nervousness and the pain in her abdomen He had been in the same situation before with many potential dates, especially if he was attracted to them. It wasn't anything unordinary for him, although it may be the opposite for her.
Still smiling, Asri sprayed some hand sanitizer on his hands, rubbed them together, to remove the possibility of passing on his diseases to her. He then reached into his pockets, fetching a couple of Advil pills from a packet that he kept with with him just in case his symptoms re-emerged unexpectantly. Asri set them on a tissue and offered them to her with his right hand.
"If you've got a stomach ache or a cramp," he said gently, "this will most certaintly help."
He stepped closer, giving her his friendliest and most reassuring smile.
"No need to be shy, my lady," he said, "you have nothing to worry about. Trust me on this. These pills will help you relieve the pain."

She wasn't so sure about taking the pills from this stranger. Sure, they seemed alright, but what if they were pills to kill her or to make her pass out. She felt like she was going to throw up, so she took them and put them in her mouth. She tried to chew them, but it didn't work. They tasted disgusting and she spat them out, coughing. She glared at him. "Why give me these fowl tasting things?! Uh.......!" She grabbed her stomach, and sank to her knees. The pain was almost unbearable.

Asri scowled, struggling the urge to look at her as if she was an idiot. In fact, he was annoyed at the fact that she was either very ignorant or very stupid. Pills were supposed to be swallowed - that's why they weren't esily chewed. Asri was used to taking pills, which was why he didn't need water, but it appeared that this girl was ignorant of them. Then again, even if she did figure out the proper way to take a pill, Asri doubted that she would manage to swallow onedue to their size. She might give up halfway, thus making this a waste of his time and resources.
"They do work," he said, a tint of impatience in his voice, "but you have to swallow them, and even then, it'll be a good twenty minutes before the effect becomes apparent. If you want, you can try taking the pills again. If not, I'm afraid we'll just have ot wait until the pain dies down."
He watched her he leaned against a nearby bookshelf, his expression now blank as he struggled to avoid showing his annoyance. Being resented for someone he only tried to help vexed him, and quite frankly, this girl's ingratitude wasn't helping. Why didn't she realize that the pills were bitter for a reason? Wasn't she aware of the concept that medicine was not all sweet and nice-tasting? Asri found her ignorance of that concept difficult to comprehend. Most societies that he had come across had some form of medicinal practices... was it because of her amnesia that she was like this?

Karashi frowned, sensing that the man was getting annoyed. She took the pills and swallowed them, looking at the man. She then stood up up, a bit wobbly. She held onto the book case for stability. She looked at him in satisfaction. "I-I'm sorry......I didn't m-mean to be rude....I-I was just overreacting...." She looked at him, hoping he would forgive her.

Asri smiled as he watched as she swallowed the pills. He forgave her in a way, but he was wary of her manners.
"No, it's fine," he said, "get some rest. As I said, those pills will take about half an hour to take effect."
In truth, Asri felt like ruffling the girl's hair to comfort her, but decided against it. It was because of his curse that he avoided physical contact with anyone except Syl and Kiel, and there was no way right now that he would willfully break that unless it was necessary for him to do so, and if he has recently put on some hand sanitizer.
"Don't worry," he said, smiling, "I'll watch over you."

Karashi looked at the man and smiled. She was glad that the man was there to comfort her. She looked at him, wondering why he was helping her in the first place. "Can I ask you you a question sir?" She always asked before she wanted to do something. She didn't know if it was polite or not, but she did it anyway. She smiled, knowing that the man would be true to his word. She was beginning to like him, even though she just met him. He was nice, and very handsome, and he seemed to care about others and their well being.

Asri nodded as he took sprayed some hand sanitizer on his hands. He wondered what the girl was going to ask, but thought that it was best to wait for her question. There honestly was wasn't much for him to say, but he was still curious about her.
"Of course," he said.

Karashi looked at him. "Why did you help me? Not that I am not grateful for it, but you're a complete stranger. Why help someone you don't know? Isn't that dangerous?" Ok, so her one question turned into 20. But she was curious and she wanted to know./color]

Asri shrugged. This girl's ignorance was staggering indeed. He wondered how Animus could memory-wipe someone to this extent... even Syl had more knowledge about the outside world than she did when it first came to Animus
"Not necessarily, as some people out in the world are truly kind and sincere," he said, "I've met a few myself, although many of them are no more. The world isn't all politics, young lady. If you don't reach out to others, how can they reach out to you? If you keep yourself cramped in isolation, you'll want to go out and meet people, you'll hae to go out and have a coherent conversation with someone, even if they're strangers. That's kind of how you make friends, really, although it doesn't always work."
He then turned to her, smiling.
"Besides, I just like helping people."

Karashi frowned as she listened to him. Could she help it if she couldn't remember anything before waking up in that room?? She shifted her position, and continued listening to the man. She knew he was right. How else would she make friends? She was scared to reach out to just any old stranger, but she knew she needed friends too. She frowned, then smiled at the man when he was finished. "I see your reasoning sir. I think I have just found my first friend."
