Chapter 6:
Fiona and Anya – Fiona and Anya encounter each other again. Anya wants to help Fiona, but Fiona only desires to kill her. Fiona approaches Johnny and Anya moves to protect him, not wanting him to get involved. Anya and Fiona engage in a dual to the death, until Fiona decides to charge for Johnny. He shoots her as he gets tackled. Anya uses this as an opportunity to cut her throat and sink her fangs into Fiona’s flesh. Johnny asks if she must kill her, and Anya says yes, because ‘she’s a danger to herself, and she wants this.’ She tries to heal Fiona, but Fiona pushes her away, saying that she is ‘tired of existing.’ Anya watches her as Fiona takes her last breath. Johnny asks her if she knew Fiona. Anya replies no, because Fiona hated her because of their differences, and that she was sad, angry, tormented.

Syl – Syl reflects on what it is, noting that its species is unlike that of anyone else on Animus, as it’s the only gender-neutral resident. It receives a message from a couple of pigeons saying that they found many humans slaughtered, and wonders if Chains is responsible. The birds soon fly away, and Syl asks them to keep it updated. The cloaked figure from the Chapter 5 church thread appears and tells Syl that there’s something it needs to know about their past.
Syl wonders about it, and how it would go so far as upsetting Myzrael for it. It then gives a detailed analysis of the events in the church, concluding that the Black Goat is powerful, that Arqus and Bremmen are threats. The cloaked figure says that it got the ‘old Syl’ back, saying that logic would serve it better than emotional naivety. It offers to do whatever it can for Syl, and Syl accepts due to the fact that’s not affiliated with any other party. Syl then asks who it is, and why does it constantly talk about the ‘old Syl.’ The cloaked figure smiles and tears off its cloak.
It turns out that the cloaked figure was Kiel all along. Syl falls to its knees, tears welling up in its eyes. The two siblings find comfort in each other’s embrace, as Kiel does its best to cheer Syl up. Syl at some point, realizes that Kiel is corporeal, causing Kiel to explain that its draining Syl’s energy in order to maintain it. Syl, surprisingly, finds that it doesn’t care; it’s just glad that Kiel is there. Kiel comforts Syl and tells it that it was there all along, hidden in the pendant that Syl wore around its neck. It explains that it made preparations before Syl came to Animus, as it knew that Syl ‘had it coming’ while it (Kiel) was never meant to come. The conversation turns toward that of an angel by the name of Asarek. Syl asks who the Angel is.
In response, Kiel explains that in the past, they worked for Azrael, the angel of Death. In addition to collecting souls, they also did various tasks which included saving fallen angels, raiding the ruins of forgotten cities, destroying undead etc. Asarek was the angelic defence lawyer that aided them in saving angels and was a big help because it was ‘damn good at its job’ as Kiel puts it. The angel was a big influence on Syl, causing a small memories to temporarily emerge that featured the angel. Syl asks if Azrael will order them around on Animus, and Kiel says no, because it ensured that they would have no work just prior to coming. Meaning... that they’re free to do was they would.
Time passes, and Syl and Kiel spend several hours together. The sun starts to set, and the drain on Syl’s energy starts to take a toll on Syl. Gasping and speaking a raspy voice, Syl asks Kiel to promise if it will help it survive in Animus and get its memories back. Kiel says that it may not like what it learns. Syl says that it care – that it only wants their happy memories and their adventures together. Kiel promises, and winds swirl around it. When they subside, Kiel is gone. Syl smiles, saying that that promise means a lot to it, as it collapses on the roof and falls unconscious from exhaustion.

Trace – Trace explains to the Black Goat that in order to return to the present he had to sacrifice being memory-wiped, so that all of the pain, death and suffering in his past is now back ion his head. The Black goat questions his reasons for helping the group, and Trace replies that they don’t matter now, as he’s a completely different person – ‘something completely new.’
There is then a flashback, where, decades earlier, Trace and another angel by the name of Abriel helped orchestrate an invasion of Heaven by demons. As no strong demons were called, they know that it would be a battle that Hell would lose. Abriel summons a portal with the intention of going to Hell, asking if Trace is coming with him. Trace refuses, saying that he’ll take time to plan elsewhere – in a place which happens to be Animus.
Trace tells the black Goat that he knows what he did, where he obtained the assistance of an army of angels to take back Animus and then wiped his memories of the final battle. Trace was stripped of his wings and banished to hell. He tells the Black Goat that he doesn’t blame him, and that he’s come back stronger and never with more firm intentions. He tells him that he intends to kill the Black Goat and then kill the entire human race, a deed that would destroy the Black Goat’s creator. “And I’m going to do it in style,” says Trace, as the Black Goat vanishes.

Arqus and Bremmen – Bremmen wanders around Animus, and eventually Arqus asks him that now that the events at the church is over, to give him his body back. Bremmen concedes after Arqus promises that he’ll let the demon out when he needs him. Arqus regains control, throwing up in the process. He then goes into a nearby café and asks for a drink. He then says that he wants to know his past. Bremmen asks him if he is sure, and Arqus says yes.
There is a flashback that takes place during Arqus’s birth. His mother doesn’t want the child as he has blond hair and red eyes, despite the fact that all of her family and that of the father are dark-haired. She says that it’s a sign that Bremmen has found a new host. The father reassures her that it will go away, but the mother is adamant. The father says that despite that curse, he is their son and that they’ll raise him as such. The mother agrees.
The boy grows up, bright, strong and healthy, raised lovingly by his parents. One day though, his mother finds him crying on the front steps of the manor. When she asks what’s wrong, young Arqus (in the past known as Magnus) says that “My classmates reckon I'm crazy because I always hear someone talking to me. They all call me, Magnus the Damned.”
Despite being raised by a wealthy family, Magnus does not become spoiled and is generally a good kid. Everything changes one night when he becomes demonically posses and attempts to kill the nanny that has been watching over him for three months. The nanny is saved when help arrives, and a gypsy soon comes as well. She casts a spell on Magnus, which she says was only able to contain the demon.
When Magnus turned twenty-three, he lost his red eyes and gains light blue ones. Bremmen then breaks out. He introduces himself to Magnus, promising him power and everything he could think of in exchange for letting him coexist in his body. Magnus accepts the deal, gaining the power to turn himself into an invincible organic diamond, and being able to control everything he turns into diamond. As a result he became selfish, ruthless and cold, killing a lot of people, many of them innocent meta-humans.

Veronica and Johnny – The thread opens as Veronica explains to Johnny what she has learned during the course of the latest events at the Church. He asks some questions on Sara, and Veronica asks if he’s really ‘taken by her.’ Johnny replies ‘can you blame me?’ He then says that he saw the tombstone someone that could have been their daughter, and that he doesn’t know how to take that. When Veronica asks about it, he replies that he realize that they may never leave Animus. Veronica tells Johnny that she’s not keen on leaving, because she feels that she actually has a purpose on Animus. Johnny asks if she’s sure, and Veronica says yes. He then asks what Sara was like, to which Veronica replies that ‘she was a beautiful human being’ and that she was ‘quite rambunctious.’
Later on, Veronica lies awake for most of the night, thinking. She has many questions, and to her it seems that whatever answers they get only give more questions. She thinks of the priestess and Sara, as well as her research on early Christian history. She thinks about her beliefs in God and how they have been challenged with fact that she can’t stand. Veronica leaves the room where she sleeps with Johnny and goes to Sara’s room. She finds a colouring book and in it a hastily drawn bunny. Veronica reaches for a box of crayons and proceeds to finish off what Sara started.
Veronica and Johnny later go to the church, hand in hand. Veronica’s jaw drops as she finds it abandoned and vandalized, realising that it isn’t as it was in the past. Johnny asks what’s wrong, and Veronica replies
"Look's what happened since the loss. This place was once so beautiful." Johnny says that he can see that. Veronica reflects on how the church was in the past to Johnny.
This causes him to wonder what happened to her, as ever since she came back, she had changed. He finds that he agrees personally with all this religious symbolism, and wonders if it’s a sign, of fate telling him to ‘return to The Cross… John of the Cross.’
Johnny begins to pray. Veronica approaches him, asking if he’s alright. Johnny says that he is. Veronica then says that there’s something that she must show him. She shows him where she (as the priestess) baptized Sara, before explaining that it was a shock when people found out that she was pregnant. Veronica (as the priestess) thought of aborting her, but decided against it. Johnny asks who is the father. Veronica explains that it was Teo, a detective for the city. They were close friends until love blossomed. They were married during their ‘final moments’ as the wave came upon the city.
Veronica begins to cry. Johnny says that everything will be alright. Twice. Veronica takes Johnny’s hand leads him down the stairwell that took them to the past, saying that they still have a chance. Then they encounter the wall of earth that Myzrael had conjured.
They go back to the stairwall, and Johnny sees a picture of Veronica. He says that this ‘has to be you... I mean the Priestess.’ Veronica replies that they’re ‘one in the same.’
Veronica then points to a drawing featuring a figure with dark hair and a suit. Johnny comments that it kind of looks like him. Veronica doesn’t have anything else to say about it. She just says ‘let’s go home.’

The Clown Is Back - Daemon, DeAnne, Lain and Ryker wonder around the city as Tommy Tyrant and Mr. Psycho slaughter the innocent mindless.
DeAnne's mom eventually possess Lain's body. They expel her mom with Mr. Psycho's machine and then the Devil shows up, tries to bring out DeAnne's dark side and Lain is kidnapped.
The Devil wants to marry her, so DeAnne, by gut instinct, guesses that it's a Vegas wedding. In order to get there, she needs a crystal, so she wanders over to a mine. There, she finds a huge ruby there that hasn't been harvested by the miners. Daemon picks at it, and thus is the last we hear from them.
