Selice simply nodded her head. She was rather hungry. The whole falling out of the sky unconscious thing had really taken it's toll on her and she could use a decent meal to replenish her strength. "That sounds lovely" she said quietly. "Thank you Asri, for everything" she added.

Asri grinned as he stood and stepped towards the back of the church. He stopped when he was just at the entrance to the the priests' quarters, which were in
"I'm glad," he said, "I've met some angels that don't even need to eat at all. Well, technically I fall into that category, being a Light angel and all. My wings and skin can absorb energy from sunlight, but since I often keep my wings retracted and since I have sensitive skin... ah... you know what I mean..."
Asri chuckled as he waved at her, still at the door that led to the Church's kitchens.
"I'll be right back, Selice! Or, if you want, you can come and watch me cook. You know how I appreciate your company."

Selice smiled and stood, following after Asri. Her cheeks still held a pale rose color that she just couldn't seem to shake. Why on earth am I still blushing? I mean....I don't like him....not like that...do I? I don't know what I think anymore she thought, shaking her head slightly, trying to clear her mind. This day had been far to eventful for her liking. As soon as she left she was going straight back to the house and sleeping.

Asri, after a brief amount of time spent navigating the church, soon found the kitchen. From there on, smiling on the way. He pulled out ingredients from the pantries and the refrigerator at a rapid pace, stacking them onto the counters - carrots, broccoli, fresh chicken, sauce, pasta... just about anything that looked remotely appetizing.
"What do you like to eat, Selice? Any allergies?" he asked, as he cut the carrots. "what's your favourite food, or do you want me to choose what's for dinner?"

"Anything sounds good. No allergies to worry about" She said with a smile. "Would you like help?" she asked, feeling as if she should be helping in some way.

Asri smiled gently at her. While he appreciated her help, this was a very simple recipe. He felt that he could more quickly do it on his own, although later on, if Selice asked, he would gladly teach her to cook.
"I would appreciate your help, but this is a very simple recipe. You could be a little patient, though," he said cheerfully. "I think I can handle this on my own. I've had a decent amount of experience making soups for my ward. It's rather simple really. Just make a typical soup, and drench it with sugar to the point where it can barely hold anymore. Never mind how much it would hurt for someone else to taste it. As a rule of thumb, if anything is sweet, my ward will like it."
He finished chopping up the veggies, and finding the cream, eggs, salt pieces of meat... among other ingredients. before taking a cooking pot from one of the cabinets and casually dumping the ingredients in, before pulling out a stirring spoon and sitrring it gently. Asri placed it on the stove and turned up the heat, setting it to medium. He continued to stir gently, smiling happily, duming in seasoning on occasion. He was making Selice a creamy chicken soup... and he hoped that she would like it.
"How does a creamy chicken soup sound to you?" asked Asri softly. "it won't be long before it is served..."

"alright" selice said softly, watching as asri took over cooking. Soon the entire kitchen was filled with the most delicious smell that had ever graced Selice's nose. "That sounds positively wonderful. Thank you, Asri" she said softly, the pale crimson color returning to her face. She had only met Asri today, yet he had done more for her in those short hours than most of her friends had done for her in a life time. And her life time was a loooooong time.

Asri chuckled, blushing a bit in return. He was fond of her for sure, and he felt that she really deserved his kindness. Some Fallen he was still on shakey terms with due to the difficulty in winning their cases, but where they only got their punishment reduced rather than being welcomed back in Heaven.
"You're more mild-mannered than Syl when it comes to my cooking," he said, laughing cheerfully, "Sugar, sugar, sugar! Heh, you've got to hang around when I make dinner for it. Then you'll how much maple syrup and honey I put in its soups. It's ridiculous."
He sniffed the air as he continued to stir. He was already drooling for food. His stomach grumbled again.
"Just wondering, have you ever had a ward, Selice?"

Selice laughed softly. "Sounds interesting to be sure" she said with a warm smile. "Honestly, I'm not a fan of super sweet things. I mean every once in awhile a nice bit of dark chocolate is wonderful, but I just can't stomach anything to sugary" she said watching as Asri continued to cook.
"a ward? No. Not many angels are willing to hang out with me, even when they have no one else. I find they would rather be on their own than stay with me, but I'm used to it. The life of an Angel of Death is a lonely one" she said quietly, turning her eyes to the floor. "The truth is, our time together is probably the longest any one person has associated with me..." she added quietly.

Asri laughed. So he was mistaken. She was an Angel of Death, not the Angel of Death. There was a huge difference between the two. Azrael was the Angel of Death, and one of his business associates, and Selice was simply an angel that collected souls destined for Heaven.
"Amusing, aren't you?" he asked cheerfully, as he continued to stir the soup, "I don't see why not. You're among the nicest of the Fallen I've encountered... the worst of worst are so insufferably bad that once you meet them, you'll understand why I often send them on long distance missions."
He looked at her, grinning cheerfully.
"I know what you mean when you say that collecting souls is a lonely task. Considering my relationship with Azrael, I've encountered many of its servants. Many of them carry their contracts or orders out on solo missions or in small teams, without having contact with many other people. "
He momentarily left the stirring spoon lean against the pot, the spoon part facing upwards to prevent contamination. Asri approached Selice quietly and lifted her head up with his gloved hand.
"Don't worry, I'm used to darkess, death and suffering and all that nasty stuff," said Asri, smiling, "I'll chase the loneliness away for you. If today is the longest that you've ever associated with another person, then you haven't seen anything yet. Considering our situation in Animus, we'll likely be here for months, if not years. But as long as I have my family and friends, I don't mind. Hmm, I don't understand why anyone wouldn't want to be kind to you; you're very sweet, you know that?"

Selice shivered when she heard Azrael's name. He had always scared her. Even though they were in the same business, he disliked her greatly, and always let her know, simply because she was his competition. If Azrael ever failed to complete his duty, Selice would be given his responsibilities as Angel of Death, a job she'd rather not have.
The crimson color on her cheeks intensified as Asri lifted her face to look at him. God, what was it about him? he was so kind, so understanding. He actually listened to her, he wasn't afraid of her....he wasn't afraid of her.
He called her sweet.....
"...I..." she wasn't able to say anything. this was all too much.
Her mind was a scrambled mess. but then....it struck her. Unrelated to his comment about her being sweet. Rewinding to when he had mentioned Azrael.
Azrael.... Her competition. Could he have...would he have...framed her? Yes he was an angel, but Lucifer had also been an angel, look where he ended up. He could have...he had the motive. her face went blank as she thought about the possibility.

"Selice, if you have a fever, I have medication for that," said Asri, smiling as he pulled away.
He returned to the soup and continuing to stir it, whistling cheerfully. It was only a few minutes later when he turned his head to face her again. The soup was almost ready, but that wasn't his focus now. He remembered when Selice shivered when she heard Azrael's name.
"Speaking of which, why did you becoming tense when I mentioned Azrael my lady?"

"I....I think he has something to do with the allegations being brought against me...." she said softly. "I could be wrong, but it certainly sounds like something he might do. could he really be that concerned with his job? I mean I really, really don't want it, but would he sink so low as to bring false accusations against me?" she asked softly.

Asri sighed. If what Selice said was true, then this case might be slightly more difficult than usual. Azrael was one of his more frequent business partners, and due to Asri's effectiveness and general usefulness, they were on very friendly terms with each other. Going against the Angel of Death was literally suicide unless you really know what you're doing. Which for Asri, he wasn't sure.
"It really depends," said Asri, "Azrael is one of my more frequent business partners after Heaven, so I know it in some way. It is true that it cares about its job, as it ensures that souls will go where they are supposed to... it's a very important job really, to ensure that the cycle of life and death runs smoothly. However, Az tends to see things as a whole rather than fret about the details; I doubt that it would be angry with you unless you have been reaping large quantities of souls meant to be taken by its reapers. It's quite defensive of them, you know."
He looked at her straight in the eye, his smile fading into a dead serious look.
"Hmm... well... have you been doing that?" asked Asri, "have you been collecting souls that you weren't authorized to collect? Answer honestly. Because if you have done so, we'll have to find a way to appease Azrael, and it'll be tricky if it's not on amiable terms with you."
Like Syl and Kiel, thought Asri, I just hope that I won't be arguing against my family; they are contractors in its service. And quite loyal at that. It was a difficult truth, how Kiel might actually fight against him if Asri dared to step up against Azrael. Reapers were formidable indeed, especially when they were on a contract and had full access to their powers. He hoped from the bottom of his heart that he would be able to resolve this case on his own, or, if he needed Kiel's help, that it would be willing to at least be cooperative...

"maybe. I usually stick to whatever I'm assigned, but lately a lot of souls have been forgotten and I've had to pick up the slack. I haven't really thought anything about it. It's a job that needs to be done, so I do it" she said softly.
