Fred hobbled through the library, doing something he shouldn’t be doing. Thinking about Mary, his heart ached every time he thought of her, being in the library didn’t help, Mary loved books. He smiled as he remembered watching her read her favorite detective novel, Jack Hazzerd: Conspiracy. The way she would show tension in her beautiful face as the book came toward its climatic ending. She had already read the book over a thousand times, but it didn’t matter, it seemed that every she read it, it seemed better than the last. He continued looking through the novels, each time he saw one that Mary had read a massive smiled was planted firmly on his face.
Fred wanted to leave this dimension as soon as possible, but he needed to wait for his Dimensional Traveler to cool down, or it could easily explode while he was shifting through dimensions, and that would be very messy. Something about this dimension made him feel uncomfortable.

Not far from the old man, and completely unaware of his presence, sat a strange trio - Kiel, Asri and Syl. They were at one end of a rectangular table crammed in one corner of the library. Asri was sitting right next to Syl, to its left; Kiel was at Syl's right side, its feet propped up on the desk, a romance novel on its lap. The funny part was that Kiel's arms were crossed - the ends of its scarf serving as a sort of prehensile appendages. They turned the pages for Kiel, fluttering around erratically when it was reading.
Asri glared at it, slightly annoyed. Kiel was distracting Syl, who stared at its scarf as if it was the fluffiest thing ever. Never mind that blue wasn't its facvourite colour. Blue was Kiel's favourite colour. Except any shade short of dark dark almost black blue.
Syl was sitting there, doing anything it could to keep its eyes away from teh textbook. It was horrible! It was blue and white and brown and said 'Algebra for Dummies.' It groaned.
"I hate algebra! What use do I have for this anyways?!" "Baking sweets?" asked Kiel.
"But Asri said that leaving me alone with an oven is like leaving me alone with a crate of nitroglycerine!"
"Syl, you need to learn to take care of yourself, find out what it's like to have a job," said Asri, "except mine. Being this kind of lawyer is a living hell. And so is being a priest without a parish."
"Asri! I'm your little sibling! Isn't that enough of a job?!" sad Syl, looking at him with that adorable expression on its face. That was its secret weapon! Asri and Kiel could rarely resist it. "Aww.... come on, Asri... pretty please? Can we go out and play? It's awfully stuffy in here."
Kiel chuckled.
"Oh come on. Syl's right. Then again, it'd be funny to see Syl in an office."
Asri sighed.
"Okay, let's test its knowledge. Syl, what's y times y?"
"3 billion!"
"What's x + x +y +3d?"
"Ice Cream!"
"And 3k - 3b times 4c?"
"Bobble-top!"
Asri turn to Kiel, glaring at it.
"Yes, we have an astrophysicist in the making, Kiel. How wonderful."
"Hey, not my fault!"
"Yes, it is your fault. You're Syl's programmer!"
"That doesn't mean that bugs can't occur spontaneously. And besides, Seth has its limits. It's innocent by definition and nature. Anything analytical is best left to Syn."
"Limits?! There's more than Seth! And Syn can't be out all the time otherwise-"
"Hush, Asri," said Kiel, dropping its book, leaning over the table, clamping its hand over his mouth. "We're in a dead quiet library. If someone comes along and you raise your voice, he or she WILL hear us!"
Syl then pulled on Kiel's sleeve, curious. Who was Seth? Kiel and Asri spoke of it often, as if it were a different person. Was it a family member of the past? Oh great, now Syl really wanted to be rid of its amnesia!
"Kiel, who's Seth?"
Kiel paled when Syl tugged on its sleeve. Syl had just asked the most unwanted question. Who was Seth? Syl, you're Seth, thought Kiel, that personality of yours is Seth. Those beliefs, that innocence, that curiosity, that personality, those mannerisms... they're all Seth. I programmed you... and I'm sad that I have to hide that.
Asri just clamped his hands over Syl's mouth.
"Nothing Syl! Nothing at all... nothing to worry about... hehe... Just go back to studying! What's the square root of 144, Syl?"

Fred heard voices, he listened in carefully, they didn’t sound threatening. But what if they were shape shifters again? Soul suckers? No they couldn’t be, if they were they would have taken the form of Mary, this has happened once before and Fred is lucky to be alive.
He peered through a gap between two book shelves, he saw three people, more like three blurred objects. His glasses had been crushed by an angry talking T-Rex, but that was a different story. His main focus for the time being was the three figures; he needed to know if they were friend or foe. He was about to back off but he lost his balance, “Oh dear!” He managed to blurt out, he knocked over the whole shelf and it hit the ground making a horrible clattering noise.
Fred just stared at the three mysterious people.

Asri, Kiel and Syl all turned at the same time to see the old man in front of them, each of them with different reactions.
Asri looked at him, saddened. This old man reminded him of growing old an ugly, something that being an angel spared him from. Hence, while he was ages older than this man, he still looked not a day older than 24. Asri loved beauty... but this... he looked away, glancing atr the textbook, ashamed to think that if it were not for Iorai, he would not have become an angel. He would be condemned to the same fate as all human beings.
Kiel was simply grinning as it walked towards the old man and knelt down so that they could have eye contact.
"Hey old geezer!" said Kiel, obviously joking, "good ol' philosopher's stone didn't do you any good?"
Syl looked at the man, eyes wide with curiosity and innocence. What a perplexing creature... why was he so wrinkled and shriveled? Why was his hair as white as snow? Syl hadn't seen any humans with hair like that! It walked up to him, looking at him, curiously, innocently, as it poked him gently.
"Why are you wrinkly?" it asked, "and why's your hair white? You don't look healthy at all." Healthy, in this case, meaning young.

Fred quickly realized that the three figures were not there to cause harm, but in fact the complete opposite. He watched as the tallest of the bunch kneeled down so they gained eye contact, Fred laughed at the strangers comment and quickly answered back will a warm smile. He was about to answer it when the youngest of the trio began to poke him gently, filled with curiosity. “Well, I am very old, old enough to be your great granddad” He answered whilst laughing, he was judging their age by how old they looked. He noticed that one of the three was having trouble looking at him, Fred shrugged it off. He was happy enough to finally find people that seemed friendly.

"WOW!" said Syl, eyes wide in awe, "if you look old like that, you must be billions and trillions and quadrillions of years old! That's so cool! If you can live that long, what's it like to have some magical artifact thingy in your pocket!"
Kiel chuckled and patted Syl affectionately on the back. It estimated the old man's age to be in hte eighties, which was far closer to the truth, but that was only from past experience. Syl didn't have that, so it went with anything that was even 'remotely' reasonable.
"Now, now Syl. Don't be so hasty," said Kiel gently, kissing it ont he forehead. "You still have a lot to learn about the world..."
"-Like how 2 times 2 is 3 trillion!"
Kiel chuckled, smiling cheerfully.
"Er... not that..."
It turned to the old man, still cheerful, but holding Syl close.
"My name's Kiel," it said, before gesturing at Syl, "this is my eager little sibling, Syl."
And finally, it gestured at Asri, who was busy going through books on nearby shelves.
"That's Asri over there," said Kiel, gesturing at him, "he's our adopted brother."
