Her eyes eased open.
"Too...blurry..." she murmured, squeezing her eyes shut she tried again. She waited for the world to come back into focus. A young girl sat across from her staring at her with a pained expression her sandy blonde hair falling awkwardly in front of her eyes. "W..who are you..?" She murmured, and faltered as she realized the girl across from her moved her lips at the same time. "Oh... ugh" she groaned holding her forehead. "What.. is going on, where am i.. dammit.." she gritted her teeth. Pushing herself up from the ratty carpet she steadied herself and took in her surroundings. Nothing registered and for a moment even the girl in the mirror looked like a stranger. Taking a deep breath she began to asses the situation. There was a mirror across from her, next to that was a small dressing table and to her far left was a window, that was pretty much it in the way of furnishings apart from the bed that was behind her that she proceeded to fall into. "Okay so I'm in a strange room that Ive ne..." She began.
"Lain, get off my leg." a deep voice growled.
In an instant she had launched herself across the room and was pinned against the dresser.
"WHO ARE YOU!!??... What did you just call me?.." Trying so hard not to scream or collapse she grasped her chest.
"Lain its me, Ryker. You lunatic." he said rolling his eyes.
Suddenly memories rushed back to her.
"Oh! duh!" she smiled sheepishly. She padded over to the window studying the view. It looked like a typical human city, cars parked on the road, street lights, a few trees and lots of other buildings. One thing she couldn't really see any of were.. well humans.
"Well that is a bit strange" she said running her fingers through her long hair.
"What is?" Ryker said staring at her
"Don't worry, do you know where we are?" Lain yawned turning to face him.
"No clue."
"Um.. Well okay.. so i suppose you don't know how we got here?"
"Lain.."
"Yes?"
"You're an idiot."
Glaring at him she collapsed back onto the bed.
"Well what should we do..?" she said sighing.
Lain watched as Ryker pushed himself off the bed.
"How about you search the place for anything useful and I'll check for away out."
She nodded and followed suit.
Firstly she searched the the top drawer of the dresser and found her dagger, which she placed back into its sheath that was secured to her thigh, Rykers sword and a small blue gem. Tossing that onto the bed she proceeded to search through the remaining drawers. Nothing. She moved onto the mirror.
"Oh yay!" she smiled picking up the horse bridle that was hanging on the edge of the mirror, wrapped it around her wrist till it resembled a very thick leather bracelet. She surveyed the room.. "I think thats all.., Any luck Ryker?"
"Doors locked but the windows not far off the ground, don't worry I'll help you down."

Her feet hit the soft grass. The outside of the building looked just as plain and ratty as the room she was in.
"Oi! Lain, keep up will ya?"
The street was bare apart from the abandoned cars and buildings, it seemed the only sound was the slapping of their feet on the concrete. She knew she needed to keep alert and stay focused but she couldn't shake the overwhelming feeling that something was very....
"Don't worry." Rykers voice cut into her thoughts.
"Whatever happens, I'll protect you."
She stopped and stared up at him.
"Thanks. well lets go find some answers" She smiled, grabbing his hand and running twords the nearest alleyway.
