"It's not so much Animus as it is the residents and their strange array of powers."
Viscum smiled slightly, remembering that Jake was a human stuck in a city full of powered residents and how he must feel slightly out of place. He suspected that Jake had not had any contact with their kind before coming to Animus, and realized how frustrated that could make an individual.
"Animus is a strange place kid, it takes people for reasons that none of us can comprehend or even begin to. All you have to do is stop wondering and start living, only then can you be assured that you will remain sane and not become like the mindless."

"How do you know so much about Animus, Viscum?" Jake asked. He was worried about Eminor. She had, for the most part, fallen silent. What physical ailments did she actually have? He couldn't name any that caused chronic nosebleeds, headaches, and fatigue.

Eminor stared into the blackness. She tried blinking, and found that she could do that fine. She just couldn't see anything. "Jakie? Are you still there?", she said in a shaking voice. "I can't see you"

"How do you know so much about Animus, Viscum?"
"Myself and my siblings have been here a while. I've had the time to come to understand a lot of things about this city. It's a confusing place, just when you think you've figured everything out a new problem arises."
The machine stopped buzzing and slowly the panel began to slide out of it. Viscum walked over to the doctor, awaiting a hard copy of the results.

Jake rose to his feet, curious as to how long Viscum had been here under their noses. He walked over to Eminor, smiling. "It's okay, Eminor. We're here. It's over now. We'll get a copy of the results and then they can treat them to the best of their abilities. Okay?" he said calmly. placing a friendly hand on her shoulder as Viscum awaited the results.

Eminor reached up and grabbed Jake's hand tightly, not letting it go. "My head hurts, Jakie", she said, blinking a few times when the machine stopped working. She felt her vision coming back, and blinked through the pools of tears in her eyes to see Jake smiling down at her.
She nodded, and held onto Jake's hand tighter, wiping more blood from under her nose.

As soon as a hard copy of the results were printed Viscum grabbed them before the Doctor was given a chance. Viscum whispered "Thank you. You may finish now." to the Doctor causing him to walk out of the large room and return to what ever job he was intended for next. Viscum took a look at the results of the fMRI scan. While Mazrin was the medical master out of the siblings Viscum wouldn't have too much problem figuring out what exactly was wrong. After several moments he pinpointed what he believed to be the cause.
As he approached Eminor and Jake his face didn't let away any emotion. He hadn't decided upon whether he should consider these people friends or enemies yet so the girl's fate wasn't a massive concern, but he still felt bad for her.
"It's not great news."

Eminor stared up at him from the table, still gripping Jake's hand tightly. She stared at him, nodding or him to continue. She hiccuped, wiping some more sticky blood from her face, stared at Viscum again.

Viscum nodded at Eminor as it returned its view to the results in front of him. He was pondering the best way to put this. He needed to ensure that it didn't sound bleak but also needed to make sure he made it perfectly clear what he had figured out, although he would need Mazrin to have a look at it when he finally arrived at the hospital.
"Well Eminor. From the looks of these results it appears that there are a large number of degenerated brain cells, which would explain your recent nose bleeds and your fainting spell in the park earlier. I'm not entirely sure on the extent of the damage, I will need by brother Mazrin to analyze it when he arrives. He is much more studied in the area of medicine than I am.

"I've always wondered how many times a day doctors have to say that. Everything seems to be bad news in their eyes," Jake said, trying to crack a joke to lighten the mood. In all honesty, he was concerned about Eminor's well being. She was a kind, beautiful young lady, and he didn't want much harm to befall her. He kept his firm hand on her shoulder.

"When will it be fixed?", she asked, staring at the ceiling now, taking in the bright hospital lights. "Soon, right?", she said, sniffling.

"When will it be fixed?"
Viscum looked away from Eminor for a moment, not really sure on how to break the news. This was always the hardest part he found, not exactly what the problem was but how bad it was. He had never had the same fondness for others well being that Rosa had but neither was he so detached from humanity that he couldn't feel sad for others suffering, unlike Mazrin.
"I'm afraid Eminor that a problem such as this can not be fixed. It is an irreversible process that once occurred is impossible to reverse. I'm not entirely sure of the extent of the damage or what this will mean to you, only Mazrin will be able to inform us of that."
Viscum paused for a moment, unsure of whether to say the next part. He always found the words hollow when used in this kind of situation, like they didn't mean anything.
"I am so sorry."

"Am I going to die?", she asked, turning to stare at him again, her eyes loosing all the glow they had in it a day before. She clutched Jake's hand tighter, not letting it go.

"Am I going to die?"
Viscum felt a sharp stab in his chest as she said that. If it was his own sister in this situation then he himself would be unable to cope. He couldn't understand the fear that Eminor must be feeling at this moment since he and his siblings were unable to get human based diseases or illnesses like this due to their half demon heritage.
"As I said I can not be sure of the extent of the degeneration. If it has already stopped then you are unlikely to die. You may just get the odd nosebleeds and possible fainting spells. If your brain cells are continuing to degenerate..." Viscum paused, taking a second before continuing. "Then death is a possibility."

Jake froze, dead silent. He wrapped his arms around Eminor in an attempt to comfort her. He still had a look of hope in his eyes. "There was a woman I met sometime before. I can't remember her name, but I think she had an ability to heal people or something," Jake said, closing his eyes tight as he tried to remember her. "Long hair, paleish skin, gentle voice..." he listed. "She was in the police station and the school before I woke up in Room #4 again. Damn my memory, what was her name?"
"I also met some woman a few weeks ago. She had some odd ability to control her bones. Strange woman. Either way, she said that some man's red icky stuff helped her get better? I think the name was Travis or something?"
