Everything had disappeared so quickly. The scene of destruction. The pain. It all faded to black, seemingly staying that way forever. Thoughts and memories scattered in fragments. Large chunks forgotten and was easily placed as strange. Remembering events then jumping to another one years later. Broken pieces lost as the place he had known as home had been lost to him. Zachery slowly opened his eyes. He stared up at the ceiling as his vision preceded to evade him. It blurry, trying to focus in and clear the fog from his head.
He squeezed his eyes shut and rubbed his head. He was laying on the floor next to a bed in a poorly maintained Hotel Room. Room #4.
As soon as he could see well enough, he struggled to sit up and stared forward. The walls were covered with peeling wall paper, which had grown from white to an old yellow from time. The patterns faded and hard to see. There was a bed near the wall, the headboard and wooden sidings chipped and worn from use. The stained on color faded greatly into a rotted dull look of bare brown. The once cherry wood color blotched across the wooded frame. The bedding was dull and plain of colors of white and cream. No pillows lay on the head of the bed. The floor was uncarpeted and cold. Made of laminate flooring, there was small pieces of trash thrown aside onto it. Most of them scattered near the crease near the wall as others occupied the open floor. There was not much furniture in the room. The bed, and old worn out side table with the dust impression where a lamp might have been. Two doors lead out of the room. One of them cracked open which opened up to the bathroom. As the other one was completely open and leading out to a carpeted hall way. There was only two windows in the room and a smaller window in the bathroom above the toilet. They let in streams of light through their drapes, small dust particles moved through the light, making them visible. But beyond these windows was something even he would not dare expect.
Zachery assessed the room as poor, small, and hadn’t been recently used. The smell wasn’t very distinguishable. Though the windows hadn’t been opened for a long while, leaving the old smell to linger throughout the rooms and building.
He stood up and brushed off his black T-shirt and black jeans. Zachery didn’t care about where he was, as long as he was alright. He walked into the bathroom and looked through the cabinets, searching for perhaps some items he could take with him wherever he was going to venture. There was no items in the bathroom either, the bathtub had no curtains. Only few impression marks where things used to be. There had been people through this room as well, going through the same routine as he.
“What a drag.” He said to the open air as he walked back into the main bedroom. There was nothing he could use here. And it might be a while before he would meet someone that would know why he had come here. So Zachery pulled open the shades and was blinded by the sudden spilling of light that came from outside. He shielded his eyes until they adjusted to the light change. Seeing a large city out before him. It looked abandoned at first glance, there wasn’t any usual activity of people driving through the streets, or any children running with their friends across the sidewalks. It was eerily quiet. And Zachery had never been in a city before. His town was a down to earth village. Small in size and it was very compatible with nature. Working with it’s attributes rather than against. So this was new to him, and fairly strange. Especially due to the lack of activity even as large as it seemed compared to Nahalia.
Zachery stared for a moment, “This is more trouble than it’s worth. I should just go find Testament and Filia to get some answers.” he commented to himself. He obviously didn’t think much of the situation. It was peculiar, he could easily admit to that. But he didn’t care the least bit. He had a lot of items on him before that life faded. But now he only had two items other than his regular cloths. His knife and his date journal. He pulled the journal from his back pocket and found the edges of the brown leather binding was singed and charred. Although he didn’t remember why. Was it an accident from long ago? Or perhaps recent?
That piece of memory was lost. As much else. He couldn’t remember much of his home, not its name the residents other than his close friends. He could only remember partial landscapes and textures from the lands surrounding his old home. Adventures and important events were cut out in chunks from his memory. But he could remember some things. As in his name, where he had been before he awakened here, his friends, part of his home, and some of his Kido abilities. Though it would be hard to use his Kido to it’s full extent when he had forgotten about some of it.
A new adventure lay open in front of Zachery. “Stuck in an unknown city, no supplies, and no one in sight. A bunch of bull s**t.” He said, lazily turning from the window and heading for the door out into the hallway. He was not going to stay here and wonder nor be lazy. He was going to find some answers, get in contact with his friends, then leave. It couldn’t be all that hard, could it?
He paused just before the blue carpeted hallway. His white eyes settling on the door number. Room #4. Zachery shook his head at his paranoia and ran his hand through his black and white highlighted hair. Though it was naturally colored this way. He stepped out into the hallway, looking down the stretch of it and all the doors. And set out on his way outside into the city for the first time. His instincts telling him to find someone as quickly as possible. But his laid back, unpanicable nature wouldn’t let him do so.
