A Fleur D'Aubigne series
She knew it was a bad idea, but reckon there's no other way. Fleur squeezed her way into the parked cars outside the airport lot. They were abandoned. It looked more like a car "morgue" than a parking lot. Most of them, consumed by rust. A sure sign that they have been sitting there, waiting for their owners, for a very very long time.
"Pilot's lounge." She murmured, pointing a small pen light at the small piece of paper in her hand. Then she gazed up at the huge Animus City Airport in front of her.
On the piece of paper, she drew a small map of the airport's interior. Complete with sub-levels, floors, offices, and flight decks. Her eyes went back to the map and studied it again.
"Crew entrance at the west wing, then down the service stairs, sub level 2 for the power generator..." She reviewed, moving the pen light on the map accordingly. Fleur looked around, and a gust of cold wind blew towards her. "If this intel isn't real ... I'm going to be really pissed."
Having been secluded from her "friends" for quite some time, Fleur had alot of time in her hands. She has been studying everything there is to know about advanced robotics and the dark arts. If one would check every book, with those topics, there is in the city library, her name would be on the borrowers log.
A week ago, she finished building a robot at her workshop back at her apartment. It was in a form of a panther. Bigger though. She gave it the Red General's heart and equipped it with all the weaponry she could squeeze into it. She called him Rescue. It was her intention to use him in time of need. In case another big bad would appear in Animus.
She took Rescue for a spin and passed every test there is. It was highly intelligent and protective of her. It was bullet proof and could lift a car using it's powerful mouth. It's got razor sharp saber-tooth tiger like incisors and claws. The robot's fast, reaching speeds between 112 and 120 km/h (70 and 75 mph) in short bursts covering distances up to 460 m (1,500 ft), and has the ability to accelerate from 0 to 103 km/h (64 mph) in three seconds, faster than most super cars. It was the ultimate killing/rescue machine.
But it lacks protection from magic.
Searching for the perfect solution, Fleur came across a book about the dark arts and it talked about an anti-magic charm called The Heart of Orpheus. According to the book, there used to be only one "heart", but 2 power warlocks decided to divide it between them.
One half of the heart was destroyed during an epic battle of wizards, warlocks and witches, centuries ago. The other half, lucky for Fleur, was lost in transit. She was able to track down the package to the Animus Airport, conveniently.
"All I have to do ... is walk in there ... power the generators up, cross to the east wing of the building ... and look for the package." Fleur spoke to herself loudly, as she started walking towards the service crew entrance.
She regarded the heavy but compact back pack she had behind her and wondered why she needed all the weapons.
"Just to be safe, you'll never know what's inside." Fleur thought, zipping shut the front zipper of the slick black catsuit she was wearing.
She stood before the locked door of the service crew. Putting on her matching black leather gloves, she exhaled, and then kicked the door open.
It forcefully swung open. From where Fleur stood, she couldnt see anything.
It was pitch black inside.
