Syl watched Klaire's behaviour happily, quite amused by what it was seeing, and finding that it could really relate to her.
"Have you been to other planets?"
Syl was bit surprised at the question, but decided to take it in stride. It cocked its head before returning it to its original position, looking upward like a little kid trying to remember something. It rested its chin on its right knuckle - an obvious sign that it was thinking.
"Hmm..." it said, "my memories are rather fuzzy, but probably. I did a lot of travelling in the past, and I remember some really different scenes that look like a place very unlike this one. They looked really amazing, like they could be from another world."

"Did you use one of those giant space ships?" Klaire asked excitedly, bouncing like a kid. "Once they let us watch this show with a giant spaceship called the Enterprise, and it had aliens, and the ship had giant beams of light and flashing red things," she then said proudly. She then sighed dreamily. "I would love to ride on one of those things! It'd be so neat!"

Syl gave her a good natured grin and chuckle.
"I don't remember, miss Klaire," it said, "but maybe, given some time, my memories might return."
It looked at Klaire, feeling happy for her. Klaire was like an echo of itself in the past, and it took personal joy in making her feel happy.
"I'm sure it is neat, miss Klaire, especially when the spaceships look cool!" said Syl happily, as it giggled as well, "would you like to get reacquainted with the show? These houses usually have a lot of stuff in them... maybe we can find something."

Klaire jumped in joy, hurriedly rushing around the corner and back up the stairs to the living room. She jumped onto the floor, staring at the TV rather childishly. "Errr," she said stupidly. "How am I supposed to get this to work? The white-coats did it for us in the lab. Is it hard?" she said, twiddling her thumbs.

Syl followed Klaire to the living room, watching her with an amused and pleasant expression.
It knelt down beside her, as a cheery smile grew on is face.
"Alright, Klaire," said Syl, "don't worry about that! I'll take care of it."
It then looked around the living room, until it found a cache of thin boxes containing discs.
"They're DVDs," explained Kiel, as it appeared next to Syl, "stuff that humans use to play their videos. I know because we once visited Earth, back when it was modern but teeming with supernatural phenomena."
Syl sighed as it went through the DVDs one by one. Its perception of the writing on them was screwed, so it couldn't accurately tell which was which. When Syl went through them all, Kiel pointed at a few of the boxes that it had overlooked.
"Those ones say 'Enterprise,'" said Kiel, "and it has a spaceship on it... I think that that's the one we're looking for."
Syl nodded slightly and picked up the three boxes Kiel had pointed out. It approached Klaire, smiling.
"I found them, miss Klaire!" said Syl happily.
It knelt down in front of the big huge box th-
"That also happens to be called a television," pointed out Kiel.
Syl appeared ignored Kiel and looked at the television curiously.
"Hmm..." it said, as it turned back to Klaire, "give me a few moments, please. My knowledge of this technology is limited, so some experimentation is in order."
And with that Syl began indiscrimately pushing buttons. It was only when it pushed one of the bigger ones when the television turned itself on.
"Sweet!" yelled Syl, grinning widely, "it's working!"
It then continued to push more buttons until something appearing like a cupholder emerged out of the bottom of the television.
Kiel pointed at the box and then at the cupholder.
"You put the disks onto that."
Syl looked at the boxes, appearing momentarily confused.
"Okay."
It opened the first one, which by chance happened to contain the first set of episodes, and put the first disk onto the cup holder and pushed it back into the television. There was a pause as the television read the disk. When it was doen reading, a new screen popped up, which startled Syl.
"The remote's over there," said Kiel, pointing at the top of the television.
Syl looked where Kiel pointed and picked up the remote.
"Hmm."
It looked at it, cocking its head and confusion, pushing buttons at random. Eventually, it found a few that worked. The arrow buttons, the 'ok' button and the return/back button.
Somehow Syl managed to put two and two together and found the 'select episode' part.
"Press that triangular button to play it," explained Kiel, pointing at each button respectively, "it's called the 'play button.' If you ever want to pause an episode, just point the remote at the screen and press the button with two bars on it. That's the 'pause button.'"
Syl appeared to ignore Kiel and pressed the play button.
Immediately, the episode started.
Syl turned to Klaire, grinning widely in joy and in glee, clapping its hands as it sat down right next to her, remote in hand.
"I did it!"

Klaire giggled as she watched Syl, and laid back, kicking her head up to watch the show. After a moment of sitting in the uncomfortable position, she jumped up onto the couch and rolled over, watching the intro sequence. It showed a series of ships named Enterprise. A fishing vessel, a battleship, and then a Space Shuttle. It then cut to the USS Enterprise in space, and Klaire giggled, still sprawled out on the couch.
"Captain Archer is so dreamy," she said with another giggle.

Syl cocked its head as it sat down beside Klaire. It was clueless about this show, but anyways, if Klaire wanted to watch it, so would Syl.
It eyes followed the sceen as the intro ended and the episode began.
"Hmm... curious," said Syl, smiling, "Archer's pretty good-looking, but being captain does have its downsides, I suppose. You know, the responsibility and all. It must be stressful. All in all though, this looks like a cool show!"
Of course, Syl only thought that Captain Archer was good looking because Klaire did. As Syl wasn't human, it didn't really have much idea of what the human concept of beauty was. It didn't care much about appearance - mainly preoccupying itself with the person within.

Klaire oohed and aahed at the special effects as the Enterprise and two Romulan ships fired at each other. She giggled, and nodded to Syl's comment. "Yeah, it must be hard. Think of all the pressure you'd have on you. If you mess up, you know that everyone you know is going to die in a big fiery EXPLOSION!" she said, flailing her arms when she said explosion. She then giggled.

Syl giggled with Klaire. While it wasn't really impressed with the special effects, it did its best to appear just as impressed by the special effects as Klaire was, oohing and ahing at the same parts she did. It wanted to humour her, especially since she probably went through a lot of bad stuff in the lab she was experimented on.
Syl grinned when she mentioned explosions.
"Explosions are fun if there's no one harmed in them. And point taken. If the captain messes up, then his mission will go up in flames... literally. It's really quite a shame as the space ships are so pretty here. As they say, being captain is a hard job, but someone has to do it."
Syl closed its eyes as the fight went on. It didn't like fighting, but if was with Klaire, it would put up with it. Syl cocked its head and looked at Klaire.
"Um... just wondering... who's winning, miss Klaire?"

Right after Syl stated the question, Klaire shushed him, watching as the two Romulan ships exploded and a sparking and smoking Enterprise flew through the remnants of the ships. Dramatic music played, and Klaire stood up, skipping around the house making space ship noises. She then stopped as she felt her stomach grumble, and walked into the kitchen, running her fingers along the walls like she did for every new room. She looked at the stove, staring at the empty gas burners and frowning.
"The white-coats used to turn these on," she said quietly.

Syl watched as the Romulan space ships blew up.
"Okay, so the Enterprise won," said Syl quietly, with an unsurprised expression on its face.
It amazed at how easily it predicted that would happen. Well, it was understandable really. Without the eponymous Enterprise space ship, it would be pointless to call the show 'Star Trek: Enterprise.' Why? Well, because it wouldn't exist in future seasons, in which the show would still be called 'Enterprise' but for no logical reason.
Syl let the episode go on as it watched Klaire run around making space-ship noises, before deciding to join in. Syl stopped as it heard her stomach rumble and followed her as she went to the kitchen.
"Miss Klaire? Are you hungry?" asked Syl.

Klaire nodded to Syl's question, fiddling with the switches on the stove. When she failed, she walked over to the refrigerator, letting out yet another ooh. "Can I hide in here?" she asked, opening the door. There was no food inside of the refrigerator, but there was a pitcher of cold water. She took it out of the fridge, examining it carefully.

"Can I hide in there?"
Syl shook its head and put a hand on her shoulder, discouraging her from going in.
"You can try, but's not really a good idea. Gets pretty cold in there and oxygen tends to run out pretty quickly. So... um... please don't hide in there. I don't want you to get hurt."
Syl put a hand on Klaire's shoulder, smiling happily.
"It's alright, miss Klaire. Let me handle it."
It glanced at the television in the living room. It didn't know much about preparing food, but some appliances here were dangerous. It thought that it would be best if it prepared something for Klaire rather than having her poke her head into dangerous places.
"You can go back and watch the show; I'll bring you food when I'm done preparing it, okay?"
It then looked around. There was no food on the counter or in the pantry. Syl stood back and shook its head. It kind of made sense for there to be no food here. Rotting food caused bacteria to multiply and a horrible smell unbecoming of a decently maintained house.
"Never mind that," said Syl, turned to Klaire, "there's no food here. We'll have to take a trip to the supermarket."
It gave her an awkward smile.
"Would you like to come with me?"

Meanwhile, Daemon had landed near a supermarket still unable to shake the tears. He needed to accept that Lain and him (their 'group' for the matter) was no more. That was life though, change is rapid and often, it was only a matter of learning and moving on. That he needed to do, he was ready to do. It would be wasteful to drown himself in pity and grief.

Klaire nodded and skipped merrily to the door, her tennis shoes appearing on her feet in a puff of blue smoke once again. She giggled. "I love the color blue!" she said sing-songily. She walked out of the door and waited for Syl, having absolutely no idea which way the supermarket was located in. In fact, she didn't even know what a supermarket was at the moment. It was obviously something super though.
