Syl nodded at Kure. It hugged his arm as it smiled back solemnly.
“For a long while at least,” said Syl, “I’ve been here for several months at least… can’t tell exactly anyways since no one keeps track of dates nowadays… and I’d like to warn you that it’s not really as peaceful as it looks. A lot of things tend to happen here… stuff gets blown up, people fight… it’s quite horrible sometimes. I’ve suffered greatly as a result, because most of my friends… they just left me there on my own, and I got injured as a result. One forgot about me and went on another of her adventures, another went off on business, another was busy, another went of off hunting… It gets lonely when everyone’s scattered. Really lonely.”
It sighed and hugged Kure’s arm tightly. It was reminiscing about the past, when the army of human men came down from the skies wielding shooty things and hurting people. It was horrible... and it was also that day where Syl almost fell into insanity. The loss of two of its friends caused some errors in its programming, and in conjunction with its sensitivity, made it take its abandonment much more harder than usual. Veronica, Daemon, Aphrodina… even Kiel to a certain extent (although Syl forgave Kiel on count of its unknown projects… they were usually helpful in the long run). Still… why didn’t Veronica and Daemon stay by it? Was it really a trifle to them. It was depressing to Syl. It loved feeling special and loved, and it sensed that this man would be the perfect companion for it, to drive away its loneliness. It wanted to love him and help him, if he would love and protect it in return… just as… in the past… Syl closed its eyes, trying to remember its past… the happy times they had…
“I don’t like it when people abandon me, because it hurts me a lot,” said Syl, “but if you have a good friend by your side, I suppose it’s manageable.”
It tugged on its sleeve, it still clung to his arm, unwilling to let go.
“I’ll go and get some more sweets,” it said, giving him its warmest smile, “then we’ll be on our way.”

Kankure frowned at him, "I'm sorry that that has happened to you. But I'm sure not everyone has completly abandoned you." he said and threw away the remaining food in the nearby trashcan. He had eaten some of it, but for somereason he wasn't all that hungry. And thinking of it now... he never was, but he liked the idea of tea better than food. "Don't eat all your sweets to quickly, we might not come across another shop for a bit." Kankure said with a smile as he watched Syl pick through the candies and collect them.

"It may as well be possible," said Syl sadly, "everyone gets separated so easily here. The city's not that big... but I haven't seen most of my friends here for weeks... It's depressing..."
It then returned to examining the remaining sweets, picking out some and rejecting others, Syl picked out a few more it liked and tore open their wrappers, devouring them. The sugar rush was enough to brighten Syl's mood considerably. Within seconds, it made its mood jump from sad to cheerful, indeed showing a quick and easy way of cheering itself up.
"Sugar!" it said happily, pausing momentarily to savour the taste, "it makes everything taste good! Mmm..."
Syl pocketed the last few chocolate bars it could fir in its pockets as it ran up to Kure and hugged his arm again, grinning.
"I'm done!" it said cheerfully, "thankfully, these fibre-free sweets should keep me going for a long while. Mm... Chocolate... vanilla... you should eat more, you know! I don't want you to starve..."
Syl licked its lips and hugged Kure's arm tightly. There was something special about this man, and Syl was not intent on being separated from him. It would follow him around, and they would have their own little adventures again... There were so many places that it had yet to show him, and Syl was ready and willing to be his guide in Animus... and bestest friend!

Kankure gently took Syl’s hand and smiled as they walked together. The night was a bit cold, but not terribly cold. Sounds of crickets chirped and echoed through the air, the winds still, the night was peaceful for now. The only uneasiness that could be found was within one’s thoughts, as a night such as this would make a person think, even if they didn’t want too. Trees were shadowy in the dark, the only light coming from the moon and the shallow glow of the lamps that illuminated the nearby objects. The lamps giving a light yellow glow across benches and grasses that brushed against the cracked park sidewalks. The deep green of the plants mixed with the shadows and blacks of the night. This gave a somewhat homely feeling as if you were walking through your own backyard.
Trees lined the hills and around the sides of the cold gray sidewalk, their twigs intertwined above as leaves fell from their branches, the tips of the leaves shining from the moon light. Kankure was silent as he walked with Syl. He didn’t know what to say since he didn’t much know of it or anything it liked, other than sugar that is. “Where would you like to go?” Kankure asked Syl. He had no idea as of where it would want to go, or where anything was for that matter.

Syl smiled at him as they walked on.
"I'm planning on going to a teashop not far from here, a ten minute walk max... That shop has some good tea there, and an ample of sugar to go with it! Trust me - their tea is really good! After that, when we're full of tea, I want to return to the park... there's something that I want to show you."
It held onto his arms, tugging at it as it led him on. Sure it was dark, the sunset gone and little light, but... Syl didn't mind. It didn't sense anyone within range, other than mindless. As they exited the park, Syl made sure to make use of the lesser known routes in the city, having them slip through many obscure shortcuts. It didn't want anyone interfering on their lovely night, so this would minimize their chances of being interrupted suddenly.
Yet, Syl's worries were in vain as their travelling came to a (temporary) end. It soon spotted the old tea shop at the corner of a street, cuddled between two even more ancient restaurants. The ground floor of the shop was devoted to serving customers, while the rest was for the owners to live in. The shop's sign was faded and almost illegible, although it was obvious that it had once been painted a vibrant green in colour, but Syl didn't really care about that. The tea was what mattered. The interior, in contrast, was surprisingly well-maintained, having the tables neat and ready for customers, the shelves well-stocked and the curtains cleaned. Green was the theme throughout. In the dim light, Syl could see the shop-keeper at the counter, washing it listlessly.
"We're here," said Syl, "I forget the name of this place (although you're free to attempt reading the sign)... but... despite its outer appearance, the tea and service are great! And the shopkeeper lets me have as much sugar as I want! Come on, Kure!"
It tugged on Kure's sleeve, as it pointed at the store.

Kankure smiled as he looked across the street at the tea shop, “Sounds nice.” he said, looking both ways down the street before crossing it with Syl; it was a force of habit really. He looked up at the interior of the shop, quickly taking in all of its features within but a few moments.
The walls were a faded light lime-green, the paint layer was peeled in areas; showing the white brick under layer of the walls. The small creases in the brick, faded outwards from paint layers, showed the small blocks that it was made of. Though at first look it would have seemed made of a different material and fairly smooth. The roof was flat, almost invisible plastic spikes lined the edges so pigeons wouldn’t sit there and dirty the shop. There were three windows in the front of the shop, and a glass door framed to the left side. A torn red clothed canopy hovered over the door, meant to keep rain from the door when the weather was gloomy. But it was fairly damaged from years of it being left to disintegrate under the sun. The sidewalk the lead from it was fairly maintained as well. It was partially cleaned of leaves and loose garbage, few weeds trying to flourish through the tinniest of cracks. The light inside was a bit dim though, almost hard to see if there was anyone in there.
He placed his hand on the door and pulled it open for Syl, letting him walk inside first, and then followed. The inside was cleaner than the outside. The floors were made of hard wood, the round tables and booths oaky colors as well. Giving the place a strange woods cottage feeling. Kankure smiled, it felt warm and inviting.

Syl smiled at Kure as he held open the door for it.
"Thanks Kure!" it said, "now come on!"
It ran forward in the dim light, using its night vision to guide it through the maze of tables and curtains to the counter, where the shopkeeper was leaning against the counter with a vacant stare on her face. She was tall, middle-aged and dressed very much in outdated clothes, and moving sluggishly too. She looked at them with that same emotionless stare as all her mindless comrades, while Syl was grinning amiably.
"Give us the sweetest tea you have!" said Syl, "hopping up on a nearby chair. "one for me, one for Kure here!"
The mindless woman immediately went to work, taking some cups out of the drawer and pouring boiling water from the tea kettle into them. She then took a couple of packets from the cupboards above her, put them into the tea, and set it down in front of Syl and the nearest seat to it - Kure's. After that, she gave them an entire jar of sugar, before returning to staring vacantly at the cieling.
"Thank you for ordering," were her last emotionless, lifeless words.
In a way, it was unsettling for Syl to see her so emotionless. It had believed humans to be passionate and dynamic but... this... while very convenient... was a bit wrong in Syl's eyes.
Nonetheless, it was glad to have a non-mindless companion now. It waved at Kure (hoping that he could see it), calling out for him.
"Kure! Come over here! Don't let your tea get cold!

Kankure walked in after Syl, his shoes lightly tapping on the floor as he walk past the few tables, brushing his finger tips against their cold, hard, flat surfaces. He could only wonder why it was so dark in here when the lights obviously worked. He sat down when he came to the table where Syl was already seated, steam rising from their tea cups as they sat on the table. “This is a strange tea shop. Why is it so dark?” Kankure asked, unable to keep the question locked away as he was curious of the city and why he was here. He picked up his tea cup, placing it in his palm and using his hand to shield the right side as he took a sip. It was a sort of instinct of culture he couldn’t drop, even if he had forgotten his past. The tea was warm as the small amount slid down his throat, the taste was sweat and tasted like a strange mint spice. But it was delicious. A small smile came to his lips as the warm tea played a sort of familiarity in his mind, washing away the sorrowful emotions that tugged at him.

Syl smiled as Kure drank the tea, and from his smile, small as it was... it could sense that he liked it. That made Syl happy to know that they shared a similar taste in tea. Tea was Syl's favourite warm beverage, which it like to drink during the cold winter months, or when the day was simply chilly on Animus.
It blinked when Kure asked about the lighting in the tea shop. For Syl, it was used to its, and its eyesight was good enough to see in the dim light here.
"I'm not sure, honestly," said Syl, "perhaps it was the style that the owner was going for here. Perhaps it's because of her eyes, that she can't stand bright light. I'm not sure, as Asri, my guardian, never quite had the time to inspect her eyes. I don't mind though. I can see in this dim light, but you have any trouble, I'd be happy to help!"
It smiled at him, as it took the spoon sticking out the jar and began to dump teaspoon after teaspoon of sugar into the tea. The tea was already sweet to begin with, but Syl was pushing it to ridiculous levels. And that was the way it liked it. Syl loved anything that was sweet, and as it wasn't human, why not take its taste for sugar a step farther? Syl grinned as teaspoon after teaspoon went in, only stopping when the last few bits of sugar it dumped in refused to dissolved. The tea was ready. Syl grinned as it sipped it.
"Mmm... sugar makes everything taste good," said Syl happily, licking its lips.

Kankure smiled as he watched Syl dump a load of sugar into its tea. “I can see okay in the dark, I was just curious.” He said. The easily recognizable warm smile curved his lips. It felt as if he hadn’t felt such warmth in thousands of years, the memory of everlasting cold sticking to his mind. It was strange how he felt that way before awakening in that room, but now he felt warm and at ease. The city seemed to empty, but held some sort of feeling of being secure within it. It was a strange feeling, and he couldn’t place why he would feel this way. But he did, and it would have to wait until he could regain his memories to figure it out, unless there was another way to explain it other than himself.
He stared out one of the windows, watching the stars in silence as he occasionally sipped some of the warm tea. Outside it was so hollow and empty, but the stars were so beautiful. Their small dots dazzling across the midnight blue sky. Kankure put his cup down, “You said you’ve been here for a while, Correct?” He asked, but asked another question before Syl could either deny or prove the fact. “If so, then Why are you and I here?” he asked. It was the ever lasting question each resident wondered. Why they were here, what was the city, what was happening. It was all connected the one answer, all the same yet hidden.

Syl smiled at him, as it leaned its head on his shoulder, humming a gentle tune. This tea shop was a relaxing place to be in, always offering good tea, always giving SYl someone to rant its troubles to, even if the shopkeeper never never appeared to acknowledge it. Talking to the mindless was boring, but when it lost Asri and didn't find anyone else, what choice did it have?
Well, now was an exception... it had found someone, and it believed that he was a person from its past... somewhere... That aura felt so familiar... that expression too... it made Syl wished that it could relive its adventures... back in the past...
"Why are we here?" repeated Syl softly, "Well, that's an interesting question. I've been here for several months, but I've never found out... in fact, my sibling, Kiel... it never did tell me why I came here... so while I don't know my purpose, at least... with good friends, I can be happy here."
Syl smiled as itput a hand on his shoulder.
"I don't know why you're here, but if you're really the one I loved... then I'm glad that you fulfilled your promise to me... after all this time..."

Kankure listened to Syl as he sat there, letting it lay against him as he stared into his cup. The brown liquid rippling slightly inside the cup. He couldn’t help but wonder about his past, what could it have been like and how Syl fit into it all. He felt like he wanted to know everything about Syl, every detail of every adventure they had, every moment they spent together. He wanted to know Syl, but right now it just felt like a familiar stranger. And it made him feel a bit guilty inside since that was all he could feel at the moment. ‘Shouldn’t I feel… more? Shouldn’t I be more close to him since we’ve met before?’ Kankure thought as he looked at Syl. A familiar face and aura, but that was about all he could feel. A pain rippled through his head, he instinctively placed his hand on his forehead and closed his eyes in pain. A strange memory coming back, so vivid as if he were there.
~~~ A strange cave, full of large rock-like pillars, and mosses and glowing mushroom with stalagmites and Stalactites and the roaring of some sort of waters, churning. Splashing echoed through the cave with laughter and talking. He was swimming in a large pool of water behind a water fall with a black haired man. The two of them talking to each other and swimming as their cloths sat in wet piles on the hard rocky floor near the pool. The waters sparkled a light blue as they touched it or moved, almost like some sort of magic.
The two of them were casually talking as if they knew each other for ages, speaking their mind of whatever they wanted to talk about like a teenage girl on the phone with her friend. Syl laughed, “Next time, let me take of my cloths, will you?” it took off its coat and shirt and tossed them onto the floor, missing Kankure’s cloths by a few meters. It dove into the water and resurfaced, the two of them talking and messing around, having fun with each other. Soon they were swimming on their backs together, floating there and enjoying the peace. “You mean a lot to me, Kure- never forget that.” the words came from Syl seemed to have echoed through his mind. Watching in a third-person view as if he was standing there himself. They hugged each other, talking softly of each other, the words unclear until Kankure spoke next.
“I’ll always find a way to be next to you, even if the universe tries to rip us apart. I promise I’ll be there for you. I’ll come find you and take you away for the day.” the words were spoken softly and were heart-felt and true. He had made the promise… such a promise, it was hard to believe. The scene was wiped away and returned with another;
~~~ “Kankure, you will suffer. You cannot escape my world” a cold voice echoed as he saw the raw image of his village, screams echoing in his head as bones lay decayed in the ground, covered in dying grasses and poisons. The buildings rotted to their foundations as the walls surrounding the area were like a trap. Keeping them in for eternal death. The image flattening from the old and current, decaying into each other like a twisted dimension fusing together. “Kankure, Jin is waiting for you.” a voice said, reaching out for Kankure. He twisted around, seeing a corpse walk towards him. Scorched and gorged, blood seeping from the fatal wounds as it limped towards him. He was frantic, not knowing was what going on. He fell tried to run and fell backwards, falling into darkness and seeing bones rush past him.
He expected to hit something hard, but seemed to sink in sort of thick water, being engulfed as he couldn’t breathe. Taking in the liquid as he tried to swim to the surface, but was being dragged down further into a sort of light. He fell through and landed on his back. Birds chirped as animals scattered by, the skies were blue and cloudless. Kankure sat up, still wet from what he had just passed through. He examined himself; he was covered in blood and a thick black substance. His hands started shaking as he stood up. He was in a sort of desolate village, much like the settlement. All of the buildings were fairly modern.
Kankure walked through the grass and onto the street, dripping in blood and black like oils. He silently looked at the surroundings and saw someone at the end of the street, their back turned to him. He ran over to the person and spoke “Excuse, but… Where am I?” he asked, his voice shaky and rough. Scared and confused as of what was happening. The woman turned around, half of her face was cut to shreds and her skull smashed, patched of blonde hair falling out as she held a cat with a gouged out eye and half a body. Its spine sticking out as blood dripped from it. It mewed and looked up at Kankure. He covered his mouth as if he were about to vomit and took a step back.
“What’s wrong mister? Don’t you remember me?” she asked. She was only about sixteen. He shook his head, “I don’t! Why would I?!” he shouted, turning around to run to see a group of living corpses, freshly killed. Kankure was frightened, completely terrified of what was happening. He closed his eyes and shook his head, telling himself it was just a vision. It wasn’t real.
“You know that wont work Mister.” The girl replied. The cat hissing as more and more corpses gathered, limping and crawling closer, limbs and chunks of skin missing, burned and water-logged. So.. dead and desecrated. Amongst them stood Dante, his demon, the horrid thing grinning and its laughter ringing in his ears. They drew closer, hands out, wanting him, the urge to devour him. “Your body will be mine Kankure. We will be one!” the cold voice echoed tauntingly, the laughter growing louder as all the talking of the dead. Mumbling, asking why, telling him of their family members. The wouldn’t shut up! ~~~~
Kankure had slipped from his seat, the pain in his skull unbearable as he trembled, laying on the floor with his hands covering his eyes. “M-make it stop. Make it stop. I don’t want to see it. Make it stop.” he repeated. Squirming in pain as his head felt like it was about to burst. He was confused, he didn’t know those people, he couldn’t remember why. They kept asking him. The words filling his head and consuming him. He looked like a child, crying after a nightmare and calling out for their mother. He couldn’t do anything, “Make it stop!” Kankure cried out, he didn’t want to see it anymore. He didn’t want to hear it. Their voices drifting around him as their half dead corpse’s seeked to devour him.
His tea cup had spilt, the brown liquid puddled across the table and dripping to the floor. He had tipped it on his attempt to get away, but had fallen to the floor and immediately taken up a curled position.

Syl gasped in surprised as Kure fell to the ground, and as it was leaning on him, it went down too, spilling its tea in the process. It landed on the floor next to him, hard, but felt no pain. It didn't feel angry or upset in the least... There was something about him that made Syl want to make him feel better... more so than with most of its friends... No memories came to it, only an overwhelming feeling of familiarity. Whatever relationship they had in the past, if it was positive, Syl wanted to continue it as if nothing had happened... it wanted it... and it hoped that Kure could remember.
Smiling gently, sympathetically, Syl sat down next to him, lifting him him up with one arm, using the other to hug him gently. It had its suspicions, but it wasn't sure what was going on with Kure... it could only hope that its support would... make him feel better.
"Shhh, it's alright," Syl, cradling him gently, "it's alright... I'm here for you... I won't leave you, Kure..."
It held him, continuing to whisper its assurance, hoping that it could clear him up, hoping... that he would be alright...

Kankure wrapped his arms around Syl, hugging it tightly. It was like experiencing a day dream as he remembered that small clip, but it turned into a horrible twisted vision of unknown guilt. “They didn’t make any sense.” he cried, scared of what he had just seen. “I-I don’t want to remember it.” he said, trying to block out the gory visions he had just seen, unable to determine if it was an actual memory or his mind playing tricks. “Please don’t let them hurt me.” Kankure buried his face into Syl’s chest. This Kankure was much more innocent and fragile than back on Middle Earth. Right now, it was as if none of the events occurred yet, leaving him clueless of how to fight or his powers or of how to contain himself when the time wasn’t appropriate for an emotional outburst. His experience was as limited as his memories, until he regained them, he was going to be the vulnerable Kankure he was now. It would have been strange for someone to see him like this if they had known him for years.

"I've not forgotten your promise," said Syl, "I won't ever forget it... that you'll always be here for me, that you'd... protect me... that even if we're separated, we'll find each other again..."
Syl couldn't help but empathize with him... to share in his pain and comfort him... He was a stranger, true, but... Syl it knew that they were not... they were old friends, perhaps... lovers... separated by fate and the cruel implications of amnesia. Syl didn't have much visual knowledge of its memories; just miscellaneous facts.
Kure reawakened some strange feelings in it... something that it kept buried but now which remerged to the surface. It was a protective, supporting instint. It couldn't help itself but try to comfort Kure as best it could.
It hugged him back, lovingly running its fingers through his hair.
"But until you recover," said Syl, "I'll be by your side. I'll help you as best I can, and I'll wait until the day that your memories come back, Kure. I'll be here... for you..."
