So silent... Why? Has the world muted itself against him? There was still a few hours of daylight left. The sun was becoming closer to the horizon, its yellow warmth touching the trees of the park. The orange rays seeping through the leaves and the shadows lengthening on the grass and sidewalks. Greens, grays, oranges and blues. The hues were so plain, but somehow comforting. It was empty. No one here, not a soul. Desolate. The only sound came from Kankure as he lightly walked on the paved path through the trees. His soft foot steps echoing off the cold surface.
He had been wandering aimlessly through the city, only recently coming into the park. He hadn't met anyone yet, no humans or anyone of his kind. Though, he didn't even know what he was. Kankure couldn't help but feel as if weren't alone, even if it seemed he was. He hasn't seen any animals yet either. As if he were abandoned within the city. But was he truly alone? He couldn't help but feel he wasn't.... feeling as if there was someone waiting. Someone... But who?
Kankure couldn't place the feeling. He couldn't understand most of these emotions that drifted within him. He had no reason to feel them, did he? He felt alone, full of sorrow, but something else as well. A heavy burden of some sort. Like a dark depression or guilt.
He tried to ignore these as he walked through the park. He had his Haori wrapped around him tightly to block himself from the cold as his Hakama was tightly tied around him. It was cold already and it wasn't even night yet. Kankure stopped at a bench underneath a lit lamp. Maybe he could rest here. Just for tonight. He hoped he wouldn't get in trouble by somebody if he was found sleeping on the bench in the middle of the night like a stray cat with no home.
He sat down on the bench, adjusting his cloths, and leaned back. It was unexpectedly warm underneath the lamp light. But he couldn't sleep, he was restless. Kankure timidly put his feet up on the bench. Pulling his knees up to his chest as swaying emotions started to drown him again.

Syl had finally found a way to get rid of Asri following it. By darting into an alleyway and taking off, it had prevented Asri from following, as his wings were fragile and easily broke when something other than air hit them. That was why he couldn't fly in enclosed spaces, as it his wings could easily break. They regenerated quickly, but it took precious resources on Asri's part, often resulting in him having to borrow some of Syl's power.
For tonight, it had wanted to be alone, to doze off in the park that it felt was home. It was big, it was lush, and easy to hide in from humans. Perfect. Still... it seemed that chance had other ideas for Syl.
Syl saw the man walk into the park from its perch, hidden in the trees. Luckily, he was a good distance away from the ill-maintained fountains, so the mosquitoes were less likely to plague him tonight. He was quite tall... with long silver eyes and long hair, which fell to his waist... and that outfit...
Syl couldn't help but feel that something was awfully familiar about him... something... Its heart skipped a beat. It couldn't remember anything clearly about him, but... it felt drawn to him, like a moth to flame.
Its expression became pained as it saw him curl up on the bench... seemingly suffering. He was apparently under a lot of emotional stress... Syl, for some reason... couldn't bear to see him that way. It didn't know what was wrong with it, but the sight of that man caused something to click in Syl's mind. It didn't know what happened but... it felt some of the blocks in its memory shifting. Whoever did this to it had done a good job of cutting off access to Syl's memories, but it seemed that elements and people from the past could trigger them to come forth... it felt strange, but good for Syl...
A clue from its past... Its curiosity was overpowering... especially since Kiel was keeping so many secrets from it. It was so reluctant to share its past, and now was the opportunity to find out what was going on. Without even thinking or attempting to analyze him further, Syl jumped down from the tree, landing gracefully on the stone cobbled path, its androgynous features illuminated by the lamp light. Very quietly, Syl walked over to him, and sat down next to him, pulling on his sleeve gently.
"What's... what's wrong?" asked Syl, barely able to whisper out those words.
It looked up at him sympathetically, giving a comforting look, hoping to make him feel better.

He felt something tug on his sleeve… hoping it wasn’t his imagination again like earlier. But also longing for someone to be there this time. Kankure looked up as he heard a voice, asking if he was okay. He saw a guy about his age sitting there, looking up at him. His heart stopped for a fraction of a second as he saw that look. It was so full of worry and concern. So familiar…… so hard to place. Who was this man? Kankure stared at him for a few moments until he remembered the question it had asked him. “I…I don’t know.” he said as he wiped the tears from his eyes. His emotions swayed at the sight of Syl. But why? Did he know him once? He gently let his legs come from his chest and he sat up properly. He was still tightly hugging the jacket to himself. As if trying to protect himself from something.
He forcefully pried his eyes from Syl and looked down at the pavement. He wondered what he was supposed to do… The light was fading from the sky as the sun was vanishing underneath the Horizon. Night taking over the orange and pink skies. It was getting dark… so fast. Kankure didn’t mind. He had no place to go, or anywhere to be. Or at least he didn’t think he did.
He looked back up at Syl after a few minutes of silence. “I…I know… this might.. seem weird. But…” He paused as his eyes held contact with it. “Can you… tell me who I am?” Kankure asked. He shook his head, “I… don’t remember anything other than my name…. and some.. strange place. Such a barren wasteland.” Kankure looked back down at the sidewalk underneath his feet. “I’m sorry…. I know you couldn’t possibly know me…. I want to know.” he whispered, his voice holding such hollow sorrow. ‘But I don’t at the same time. The strangest feeling as if I’m better of not knowing.’ He gently took out the flower in his Haori and held it in his palm. Staring it, trying to remember. Forcing himself to try and remember. Tears came back to his eyes and slipped down his face. Dripping down his chin and to the floor as he leaned over it with his hands over his head. The flower gently slipping from his grasp and landing on the bench beside him. He couldn’t stop crying…. He couldn’t help it. The tears just came. And he didn’t know why….. Such a feeling of emptiness… such a feeling… and he had no reason to feel this way. He couldn’t remember a single event or his past.

Syl clung to the man's arm, looking up at him gently. Somehow... when it was near him, it felt something that it couldn't feel around even Veronica or Rosa... It was strange... it was also... beautiful too. Syl noticed that he was wrapped up in his jacket, and wished that it could have been of more help. Strange things happened at night in Animus... strange things that not even Kiel could explain. For some reason though... it felt this strange urge to not let go of him, even if it could have at any time. It was different from any of the other residents... strange…
It was when the man looked at it... and held eye contact... that something rushed through Syl. Those eyes... they were unlike anything that it had seen on Animus... and that gaze... so familiar. White eyes…
“I’m sorry…. I know you couldn’t possibly know me…. I want to know.”
"There's no need to apologize," said Syl, looking back at him gently. "My memory is for most part blocked, but I do know one thing... this feeling of familiarity that I have with you... is not a coincidence... you're wrong, really, because I think that in the past, I did know you… because I’ve never felt this way with anyone else here… anyone."
Syl leaned over and gently wiped away the tears in his face, whispering comforting words in his ear.
"It's alright," it said, repeatedly saying the same thing over and over again, in an attempt to comfort him, to make him feel better, "it's alright, it’s alright..."
It then noticed the red flower that he held in his hand. That flower... it was wilted but the dying rays of light hinted that while its colour had faded, it was once a vibrant red. Red... that... that was... Syl's favourite colour! The colour of love, warmth, friendship, good luck… and of an undying fire… Syl loved that colour because to it, that colour symbolized everything it held dear… especially… love… love… the one thing that it couldn’t get enough of, the one thing that made it appreciate life, one of the biggest reason why it had survived to see this day… love… Memories came back to Syl... as tears came to its own eyes... that flower...
It clung onto him tightly as tears slid down its own eyes, looking at the flower with an amazed expression on its face. It remembered... spending time with the one it loved... and as a gift, Syl took the flower, and gave it to him, to symbolize their love...
"I remember that flower... It's a Red Azalea Flower... I... I gave... one of those... to the one that I loved most, other than my guardian and my sibling... the one I gave my heart to..."

Kankure looked up Syl gripped onto him. Tears in it own eyes as it told him about the flower that he had been carrying ever since he got here. The small thing was close to dried out death, barely hanging onto life. Wilted, crushed, and crumbling. He felt a strange emotion towards it… as if he wanted to hug him and stay that way all through the night. His heart skipped a beat as he heard Syl say he gave one of these flowers to the one he loved. Could…. Could he possibly be.. He and it… together? Flashing memories went through his head. He could see the back of someone’s head in front of him, black flowing hair as it held his hand. A destroyed city covered in clouds of poison. Images…. Images of a demon. He grabbed his forehead with his free hand as the pain of a headache forced it’s way through his skull.
What were these memories? Clips of memories… laughter… tears.. And something so dark and cold. He still couldn’t remember who it was… what he was. Was this man sitting by him truly someone he knew? Someone… he loved? Kankure shook his head. Everything was so unclear. Only small fragments of images he could remember. Moments he thought he would never forget. He looked up at Syl, his facial expression was pained and confused. “I… I don’t understand. Who are you?” Kankure asked. His heart seemed to flutter as he looked into Syl’s eyes. His soft passionate eyes. Syl seemed to know him, somehow, but he couldn’t place it. He couldn’t remember what had been going on. “Please tell me…” He whispered. His eyes watering up again and spilling over. “Please tell me what’s going on!” Kankure shouted, releasing from it’s grip and forcefully hugging him tightly, burying his face into it’s chest. He couldn’t sob, or cry. All he could do was squeeze his eyes shut, letting the tears drip down his face as he held onto Syl. It felt so warm. He didn’t know why he felt this way all of a sudden. As if his emotions were screaming at him to remember.

Syl smiled at Kure, as it hugged him tightly back.
"I know," it said, "my... name is... Syl Kazarashi..."
Those words... they slipped so easily through its mouth... Kazarashi... that was just one of its assumed names in the past, albeit one that they used more frequently... was it the name... that this man knew it by?
It felt sympathy for him as he buried his head into his chest, sobbing. So vulnerable... It made Syl feel a pang of sympathy for him. Memories that had been locked before were slowly flashing back... that of that of itself and a man with long flowing white hair, and silver eyes... adventuring together... barely escaping death by man eating plant... and, and...
"You know what's going on?" asked Syl to him, not even realizing what it was saying, "if you're really the one that I loved so much... then... you've finally kept your promise to me, since... you've somehow ended up in this city as well... if you're really the one that I loved, then we've been finally reunited..."
Syl cried as well, trying its best to remember, to overcome the blocks in its memory. It was difficult, but doable with the right motivation. Slowly but surely though... it began to piece the clues to together... why was this man so familiar? Why did it feel so warm next to it, with a similar reaction on his part? Were they... really lovers once? To Syl... that word rang through its mind. Love...
It hugged Kure tighter and sobbed.
"It's alright," it whispered, "if we were really together... I just wish... that I could tell you everything... that you could... remember me..."

Kankure looked up at Syl, not letting go as he had his head against it’s chest. That name seemed to nag at him. It was so familiar… as if he had known the name for years. “Syl….” He whispered thoughtfully. Trying to remember anything to do with it. He couldn’t get to any more memories… they seemed to be completely missing from his head. It said something of a promise… What promise? Did he swear something to Syl? He couldn’t remember… he couldn’t tell. “W-what promise?” Kankure asked. His voice was almost lost as he stayed clung around it like some sort of lost puppy. Even when he wasn't trying, he was adorable and cute. Almost like Syl had always been when they were together. Always running around outside and laughing together. Syl had always been the cute confused one who always wanted to obsorb information.

Syl hugged him tightly.
"The I loved... he promised to always be there for me," it said. "It was a promise that I took to heart."
It snuggled with him; it was kind of awkward to see a tall man like him snuggle up to Syl, who was considerably shorter, standing at a little less than 5'7''. Nonetheless, it embraced him warmly, comforting him, running its fingers through his hair gently, affectionately.
"I'm sorry that you can't remember," said Syl softly, "but if you can't recall any more memories, how about we make some new ones here in this city? I've been here for several months, so I can show you around and we can go and have some adventures together... just the two of us... and see where that takes us... How about you start by telling me your name?"
At this point, Syl was not acting on its own accord... it was its own subconsciousness that was driving its actions. The memories that struggled to break free continued to be supressed by the blocks in its mind, but some information leaked through...
"Is it Kure?" asked Syl, "is that your name?"

He nodded, “Yes… My name is Kankure Namurei.” He said and smiled warmly. He slowly pulled away from Syl, sitting there with his arms folded over his chest. He didn’t want to move away, it regretting doing so, but he didn’t want to bother Syl by latching onto him like a child. The light had completely faded from the skies, leaving the stars and moon to hover in the night’s blanket sky. The stars were so much brighter here than on middle earth. They were so many of them. Kankure took Syl’s hand within its own and smiled at it. “I saw a concession stand a while back. I don’t think anyone would mind if we helped ourselves.” He said as he stood up, keeping his cloths tightly wrapped around him to block his skin against the cold.

Syl gracefully stood when Kure did, smiling widely.
"Concession stand? Is that where they keep sweets and sugar and sweet drinks?!”
It tugged on his sleeve eagerly, before it ran in front of him, waving for him to follow.
“Come on, Kure!” it said, grinning, seemingly looking like a cute, energetic kid, jumping up in joy, “what are you waiting for?! Sugar awaits us! Isn’t that great?! Oh, I’m so excited! Sugar!”
It ran back to him, and pulled on his sleeve again.
“Come on!” it said, its grin only growing wider, “It would be really nice if we could have something to eat or drink! Especially since I doubt that you’ve had any dinner. It’ll be great I tell you! Animus has great food, honestly… it’s the best I’ve had! Come on! We can’t keep the sugar waiting!”
It giggled happily as it hugged his arm, trying to pull him along, even if it wasn’t doing a particularly good job. While Syl could give iron-strength hugs, its physical strength wasn’t very high. If Kure was walking along, its pulling didn’t have much of affect. Nonetheless, Syl was determined for him to come along to their sugar feast, and it wasn’t above dragging him into order to get it. Well, attempting to. Syl let out a chuckle at that thought. There were only two things on its mind now – sugar, and Kure. It couldn’t decide which was more prominent. It wanted Kure to remember it, and for them to be the best of friends.
Perhaps it was because of their past together, but Syl felt a connection with him, and it didn’t want to part from him. For that reason, Syl decided not to force their friendship or love… if he wanted to be with it, that would be his choice… (Except the part involving the concession stand; Syl couldn’t resist the allure of sugar. Sugar was the best!)

He smiled as Syl was getting all hyper over the single word of sugar. He was so cute even though he looked like a grown man. Though, everyone had their differences. He didn’t move as Syl tried to drag him. “Wrong way.” he explained, pointed in the opposite direction of which Syl was trying to go. He chuckled warmly. He was so at ease with this person, and he didn’t know why. It was like they knew each other for years or more. He was completely comfortable being around it. Though he still couldn’t remember exactly who he was and what their past relationship could have been. He gently picked up the flower from the bench, opening his Haori (jacket) and putting it in his pocket. Though, in doing so, he revealed part of his scar. Even though he wasn’t trying to hide it, or even knew why it was there, he didn’t feel very comfortable looking at it. Kankure closed his Haori and held Syl’s hand, intertwining their fingers together.
Tonight was so peaceful. Not a person to ruin the silence of the night. Only few crickets could be heard as they chirped in the grasses. “I’m sure they have a lot of sugary stuff. I didn’t necessarily look, so I don’t know.” Kankure said as he walked with Syl beside him. It was clinging onto his arm, not letting go. It seemed to beam with joy and happiness at the mention of sugar. And it made Kankure happy that it was happy. “I wonder if it’s one of those ice cream carrying concession stands. Ice cream is really sugary and sweet.” he said. Wondering on what it would carry. As if it was some sort of guessing game. He smiled as he saw it not to far off. There was no one there. As if the city was abandoned around the two.
It was fairly small and made of steal and wood on wheels. The steal part carrying cold items as the wooden counter had a bunch of candies, sweets, chips, and other snacky foods. “Seems they’ve got a large range of everything.” he said as he looked down at the piles of stuff. “You can choose first.” He said with a warm smile to Syl.

Syl smiled as they walked together, holding hands. It was so sweet of him, and Syl savoured the physical contact between them. It was almost nostalgic of the past, and it made it want to follow Kure where ever he went. It wanted to be with him, and it wanted him to happy… somehow, it felt that he was comfortable around it, and that encourage Syl to follow him around even more. It intended to spend every day with him… just so one day, they could regain their memories and figure out if they really loved each other in the past … right now though, it contented itself to staying by his side.
Syl’s mouth watered at the sight of all that sugar. It tried to drag Kure along with it, before letting go of his arm briefly to fetch a wrapped ice cream cone (those things that had ‘Drumstick’ on their labels) and unwrapped it, licking at it eagerly. It looked back at Kure and waved, chocolate all over its cheeks. It didn’t mind that the concession stand was minimally maintained, some of the wood cracked and on the verge of breaking. All that mattered were the sweets inside, and Syl hoped that they weren’t contaminated; otherwise it would be a nasty sight to see it regurgitate all that it had eaten. It had even freaked out Asri the first time that he saw it do that. The sounds Syl made probably sent chills down his spine, and from then on, he was careful to check Syl’s food before it ate… provided that he was in the general are to begin with.
“Come on, Kure!” it said, grinning, “it’s good! All these sweets and snacks, it’s wonderful! Wow!”
It ran up to him, holding the unwrapped ice cream cone, its grin only growing wider.
“Thank you, thank you, thank you, Kure!” it exclaimed, “you’re the best! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Now come on here and take some for yourself; it wouldn’t be fair to deprive you of the joy of eating sugar, especially since you’re the one that led me to this wonderful place!”
It chuckled, as it skipped happily around him, happily licking the chocolate ice cream cone. It tasted so wonderfully sweet, that Syl decided to add ice cream to its list of beloved sweets. It hummed merrily as it hovered over the rest of the selection of sweets available, focusing particularly on the chocolates. Syl liked chocolate, but nothing beat the taste of highly concentrated sugar drink.

Kankure smiled caringly as he watched Syl skip around with the ice cream. “Slow down or you’ll get a stomach ache.” He said. Taking one of the napkins over the counter and holding Syl still as he wiped the chocolate off his mouth. He was truly like a kid even though he didn’t look it. He couldn’t help but smile at the way Syl was acting. He was so full of joy and happiness… and apparently sugar. He rummaged around in his haori, looking for money. But he didn’t have any. “Hmm, I hope the owner doesn’t mind.” He said. Kankure was always trying to do the right thing, but he didn’t have any sort of payment with him.
He stepped behind the stand and poked around. Mixing together different things by instinct. It wasn’t much since all there is a bunch of varies of snack foods and such and some vegetables, but not much. He mixed some of the hotdog meat and some vegetables together. But he had no heat source. Kankure searched for a second and found a small pan and a lighter…. A lighter wasn’t going to work at all. He scratched the back of his head as he thought to himself. He rolled his eyes and tried the lighter anyways. Using some of the napkins to place on a metal slate that was falling of the stand.
Kankure set the small slate on the counter, setting the napkins on fire that was placed on it, then putting the make-shift pan on top of it. Mixing it around by gently shuffling the pan back and forth. “Works for now.” He said, examining the food. He wasn’t one to eat snacks, most of the time he would cook for himself. And perhaps Syl, in the past, if they were really acquainted somehow. After a few minutes of cooking. He set the pan aside and took the flaming slate. Putting it on the ground and pressing his hand on it. It didn’t burn him. Strange. He ignored the fact and threw the ashes away in the trash. Brushing the slate off.
“There.” he said with a smile. Proud of his make-shift kitchen handy work. He took a paper plate and scooted some of the food off onto it. Offering the plate to Syl. “Do you want some?” Kankure asked. He didn’t know Syl - or at least he couldn’t remember - and he couldn’t remember that he couldn’t eat solid foods. “I’m sure you couldn’t eat sugar all the time, could you?” He asked with a raised eye-brow. He didn’t know Syl’s habits, so he couldn’t identify how much sugar he could eat in one sitting.

Syl grinned as Kure wiped away the chocolate on its face.
“Don’t worry about money,” it said, “no one will care about that. Most people here are mindless, so currency means nothing to them. We can take what we want from here and no one will mind. It’s normal behaviour here, really.”
It hovered around the concession stand, still picking out sweets as Kure cooked, delighted at them spending time together. It picked out various sweets at random, not even bothering to read their labels, often trying to see which ones it could it and which ones it couldn’t. The ones it couldn’t, Syl identified quickly and spat out. The others, it munch on happily as it devoured as many candies and sweets as it could, before moving onto the soft drinks.
It then noticed when Kure began cooking, using whatever improvised materials that he had on hand. It grinned as he found a way to get a fire started and began cooking, and in concern for his safety, Syl didn’t touch him during this time. It ran towards him, grinning eagerly as he offered a plate to it. However, its eagerness turned to perplexity as Syl poked at the food. There were some vegetables on it… fruits, meats, grains… It tried some, but soon spat them out.
It sighed as it handed most of the uneaten food back at Kure, as it nibbled on a liquorice stick.
“Sorry, Kure,” said Syl, “but… yeah… I can eat sweets all the time, but… I can’t eat most solid food. Anything with fibre or indigestible material in it… I just can’t eat. It’s impossible for me to digest, as I don’t have the intestines necessary to process it and evacuate the waste. As long as it’s sweet and has no fibre, I can eat it. But fruits, vegetables, grains, meat… I can’t eat it for most part.”
It hugged him, looking at him with an apologetic expression on its face. It looked so cute, and wanting Kure to ‘forgive’ it very much.
“I’m so sorry Kure… how about some sweetened tea instead?”

Kankure chuckled as he spit out the food. “No worries.” He said and ruffled up it’s hair affectionately. Syl was absolutely adorable, even if he was a grown man. He sat down and looked up at the stars. “I wonder how long we will be stuck here.” He mumbled. He could probably get use to the place though. It was so peaceful, or at least for tonight it was. “I don’t think they have any sort of tea.” Kankure said as Syl asked for some sweetened tea. “Maybe we can go adventure around and find a small shop that might have some.” he said with a warm smile.
