Asri smiled gently at the servant. "I'm afraid so," he said, "there may be something wrong with the files in the Reaper Archives then... her reasons for reaping those souls are perfectly legit; the problem seems to lie in the quantity and the judgment."
He stepped into the house, closing the door behind him and shying away from Requiem. He then looked around, taking in the beauty of his surroundings. It was truly a beautiful house, more so than his temporary homes in Heaven, which had the bare essentials and nothing else, due to his frequent travelling.
"Selice, just like you, disagrees with that," said Asri, "she says that that ledger will prove her innocent, and I have faith as well that it will."

Casey chuckled, grinning wickedly at Selice.
"No offence taken," said Casey, "although you should try asking Asri for long you would have to serve him... I doubt that he'll give you a straight answer there... He doesn't place any trust in his longevity as an angel, still stuck on the human concept that all living things will come to an end."
She leaned forward, cackling, her voice cracking and hissing as it echoed off of the prison walls.
"That said... how human do you think he is, Selice?"

Jasper kept a firm grip on Requiem's collar, making sure that he didn't jump all over Asri. "Hold on a sec, lemme get him back into the backyard" Jasper said, walking down the long hall towards a large room at the very end with bright light spilling out it. "Her bedroom is upstairs, first door on the right. Go ahead up and I'll meet you there in a few" The angel added.
With Requiem safely out in the backyard, Jasper quickly returned to Asri's side, leading him through Selice's office to a small marble stair case, lined with the same black rug that lined the hallway. The second floor was much like the first. White marble columns lined the hall, opening up to small rooms on either side of the pillared halls. Jasper stopped at the black door on the right and opened it, holding it open so Asri could enter.
Selice's room was simple, yet stunningly beautiful. The entire right wall was nothing but a series of large stained glass windows with a small door in the middle of them, leading out to a large balcony that sat over her rose garden. Light from the stained glass window streamed in, casting beautiful colors all over the white marble floors, each of the windows were open, the smell of the roses from the garden wafting up into the room, filling it with the flowers sweet perfume.
Her Bed sat on the far left wall. It was a simple black wood canopy bed. The drapes of the bed were a sheer white fabric that fluttered about in the breeze. The sheets and coverlet were white as well, made of a soft looking silk fabric. A small Black wooden bench sat on the end of her bed, with a white seat cushion and crimson throw pillows resting on it, along with a small pile of books.
But the most important piece of furniture in her room at that moment was her desk. The large black desk with a matching book shelf sat on the far wall, a simple black stool sat in front of it with a crimson cushion that matched those that sat on the bench, resting on the seat itself. The Shelves of the desk were lined with dozens oh large books, each one a first edition and incredibly rare. The desk it's self was covered in papers, opened books, ink pots, pens, a small vase of white roses, and several large candles scattered about.
Jasper smiled at Asri as he walked over to Selice's desk, careful not to disturb any of selice's papers. He looked through the book titles quickly, searching for her Lord of the Rings volumes. "Ah, here we go" exclaimed Jasper, finding the novels. He pulled down the large books, resting them on the other side of the shelf. "Did she give you a key?" Jasper asked, turning to Asri.

Selice bit her own lip for a moment. "I will ask. I am curious as to long I have signed my life away for" she said softly. "Though as I've said, I don't really mind" she added. "Honestly I don't know how human he is......"

Selice's room was wonderful, beautiful, almost like Asri, Kiel and Syl's bedroom on Earth and on Animus. As the three of them slept together, they only needed one bedroom - the rest was for storage. Except that her bedroom didn't feature pictures of her crossdressing like in his case... Asri could remember the time when Kiel dressed him up in a gothic Lolita dress. Oh dear... it got to the point where they had a photo album full of Asri in women's clothing, men's clothing and outfits that defied description.
He also liked the smell of the room - it reminded him of Kiel, who was fond of carrying rose incense around to brighten up the mood of any room they happened to be in. "Ah, yes," he said, taking out the key that Selice gave him and handing it to Jasper, "here it is."
______________________________________________________________________________________________
Casey chuckled.
"Neither do I," she said, "but as they say, everyone has their secrests."
Her eyes then narrowed glaring at Selice.
"And why wouldn't you mind serving that bastard for a God-awful long period of time?!" yelled Casey, "Is because you want to slep with him? To show him off as a trophy? Or is that that you're actually letting yourself become controlled by your emotions for a man that unwittingly lead you to a horrible fate!"

Jasper took the key from Asri and used it to open a secret panel behind the books, revealing Selice's ledger. Jasper handed the battered old book to Asri, smiling warmly. "Here you go. The book it's self wasn't very big. Maybe the size of a bible but no bigger. It was black leather and the front cover bore a silver crest, an angel wing with a scythe, the universal symbol of the old reapers. "This should have every record of every soul she has ever reaped, including clearance for bringing that soul to heaven or hell" Jasper said with an optimistic smile. "in your hands you hold something very important. Don't let it out of your sight for even a minute" Jasper warned, closing the small hidden compartment and returning the novels back to their original positions. "Anyway, you have all the evidence you should need. Right now you need to get back to Selice....Since the whole Animus thing she....she just hasn't been the same and frankly I'm worried for her" Jasper said softly, biting his lower lip.
________________________________
"No. It is not because I want to share his bed. That after all would be impossible...." selice said softly. "I...I care deeply about Asri. Thats why I don't mind. One might endure a life time of demons for the sake of an angel.....He has had nothing to do with my fate...that was my own damn fault." Selice added.

Asri took the book, smiling, holding it gently and flipping through it. Yup, Jasper was right... this was the book all right... with all the souls that Selice had ever reaped... as such, the books was massive, and Asri soon fell to the floor with its weight. He wasn't physically strong, so it would be difficult for him to carry on his own... If only he wasn't so weak...
"Thank you, thank you very much, Jasper," said Asri, "this will definitely turn the case in Selice's favour... I won't lose it... I promise... Now... if only I could carry this thing..."
He sat there on the floor, flipping through the book, watching as the names of each soul slowly passed by. Beneath each was the information he could ever need, including, as the servant said, clearance. Truly amazing how she ever managed to keep track of every soul she reaped. Asri wasn't fond of keeping record of anything other than his memories of Syl and Kiel... Anything for work was too tedious, and he usually left that to the staff of his law firm that worked doing exactly that. _____________________________________________________________________________________
"Nowadays, I just wonder if that man's good enough for anyone with what he has to put up with," hissed Casey, "you ought to be careful around him, Selice. Don't get too close! Otherwise you may end up suffering the same fate as me! Do you want to stay in this cell for months, with little food and water, little comfort, and with only the screams of the tormented to console you?"

Jasper stifled a laugh as Asri fell to the ground under the weight of the book. "Hey I can give you a hand with it" Jasper offered. "If you want you can use Selice's study downstairs. I don't think she really ever uses it, and it will be easier for you to manages all of the evidence in an actual office rather than the hallway of the prison" Jasper added. "hmm. I wonder if Michael is on call today.... If he's free he might be able to keep her company while you're working" Jasper mused as he began to walk downstairs.
Once on the main level of the home Jasper walked into the kitchen and pulled up a small screen on one of the walls, dialing Michael's work extension. After a few moments of a waiting screen, the heavily armored angel popped up on the screen. "Jasper, what can I do for you?" Michael asked. "Need a favor". The chat lasted for a few moments but ended with Michael agreeing to head over to the prison when he had a bit of free time.

Zachery had laid silent for a while, the only sign of life were the slight groans or tensing when the doctor pulled a needle through his wound. “I don’t know why I have to deal with prisoners…” He mumbled, wiping away the white blood and continued to stitch up the wound. The two nurses were cleaning up his other wounds. Scratches, burns, cuts. The smaller things. They bandaged his chest and arm, cleaning away the makeup on his scar so that the powder from the material didn’t infect any of his wounds. Zachery had been in many fights. Hundred of them. Planed many attacks. Burnt down thousands of things and few people who’ve tried to hurt his family. Even so… he looked like he has just come back from a war. Bandaged and stitched up by wire, permanently burned and scarred.
He had gained those wounds from Animus. The place he called home. Where his lasting family came from and came to. The doctor moved away, placing the needle and remaining wire into the trash and the bloody towels. Along with his useless shirt and the few restraints he had left on him from the court. But even though he had been through all the crap of his now past, he never died or given up completely. Always coming back at full force and kicking and thrashing. His anger was just as powerful as the heated fires of hell.
But now…Zachery looked somewhat helpless and innocent. As if he could never do something like kill a person. The doctor came back with a few pieces of gauze and medical tap. Placing it over his large wounds that couldn’t be bandaged properly. Before he could pull away, Zachery grabbed onto his arm, eyes glaring at the doctor, whom was clearly afraid, but held a strait face.
“Don’t… touch me..” He growled. It was fairly amusing how even now he hated to be touched. Even at the worst times when he was near death, he hated when people touched him. Zachery pulled the doctor closer, eyes narrow with slight anger. “Touch me again.. And you’ll lose more than your job and pride.” Zachery let him go and shoved him back. Slowly sitting up and grimacing.
“You shouldn’t move yet!” The nurse said, trying to push him back to the bed and make him rest. He pried her hands from him and glared, giving her a last warning, then turned from her and stood up, hand on the bed to keep him steady. The room felt like it was spinning around him. An effect of some of the medications he had received. He groggily held his head as he stood there.

An uneasy silence fell between them. Casey stared at Selice for a few long minutes, before suddenly breaking the silence. She chuckled softly, with just enough volume for Selice to hear.
"If this cell is nothing, Asri's definitely something," she said, "especially as he's searching for a wife, even if his efforts are ultimately futile. He's a tormented man, Selice. You gotta wonder why those bastard siblings keep him around. If you ever meet the blue one, as him about it. Should we ever cross paths again, I'd like to know. I fell in love with him, Selice! Is it surprising that I can't stop thinking about him? All the happy memories we once had together?!"
Her expression faded from smiling to sobbing. She was a real emotional wreck, to the point where she wondered why she hadn't attempted suicide already. Asri knew how to give people what they wanted, how to make them happy. He gave her everything she longed for - a chance to be loved, a trusted friend, a good night's sleep... She missed him really, but now learned the hard way why Asri was so unlucky in love, especially with women. She had seen them come and go, pain on both sides... In way, she was hoping for Asri to finally rest in peace, even if he adamantly refused... She pitied him, really, kept under the whims of those two siblings, and actually believing that it was a good thing!
"Why does he only prolong his suffering?" asked Casey, sighing.
_______________________________________________________________________________________________
Asri nodded at Jasper, smiling gratefully.
"It would be much appreciated on my part," he said, "if you could carry it for me."
He left the book and followed the servant as he went to the kitchen and took the phone, listening as he called Michael. Michael heading over there? It made Asri sigh in relief. Perhaps he would stop Casey from talking badly of him behind his back. His reputation didn't need to fall any lower. If Heaven didn't need his services, they would have sent him away a long time ago.
"Um... if you're done... can you... um..." Asri smiled shyly, embarassed that he was requesting thise from a stranger, "can you... um... carry the book for me?"
__________________________________________________________________________________________________
Syl watched the fuss, thankful that they didn't seem to notice it. If they did and forced it out... that might have turned into a rather ugly affair. Fights between Azrael and Heaven and Hell were rare but possible, and... rather unpleasant.
It ran up to Zachary, looking worried, although slightly curious of him. It wondered why he was so alone.
"Why do you look so alone, Stripey?" asked Syl. "what can I do to make you smile?"
It paused holding its chin on its fist, a sign that it was thinking. Its eyes rolled upwards for a moment, before returning to Zachary.
"Stripey," said Syl, grinning innocently and clasping its hands behind its back, "what about a big huge sugar party when this is over and done with? Do you like sugar?! It's the sweetest thing in the world!"

"Yeah sure, I can carry it for you" Jasper said with a smile. The angel turned and ran out of the room, making his way upstairs to retrieve the book.
He came back downstairs, Selice's ledger in tow. He carefully set the book down on the counter with a sigh. "I really hope you can prove her innocence with this" he said softly. "Selice wouldn't make it in prison...not after what happened in Animus" he added.

Selice watched as Casey broke down. She felt so sorry for the angel, but at the same time there was a twinge of...she wasn't even sure what it was.
"Yes, Asri is something. Something I care deeply about. Now tell me. Why are his efforts so futile? What is wrong with Asri, Casey?" she asked.
____________________________________
Michael made his way back to the prison. His thoughts were a jumble at that moment. In his heart he knew Selice couldn't be guilty of such crimes...but who knew, that could be his love for her talking, wanting to believe the woman he loved was innocent. A sigh escaped his lips as he made his way back down to the cell block.
There she was. At least she was up and as it appeared, no longer crying. He could never stand to see her cry. "Alright, I'm back Selice" he smiled softly at her.

Asri smiled at Jasper.
"Don't worry, I'm a lawyer," said Asri cheerfully, "hence why I know Heaven's legal system inside out. I have ways of convincing the court. Orthodox or not."
Asri wasn't lying... he had more contacts in Heaven than what might be expected of the Angel of Plagues. Perhaps from angels that feared being thrown out as well, and wanted to ensure that they had a lawyer just in case. Asri didn't mind them, as a few were rather high up in the ranks... sometimes, if it came down to that, he was able to pull a few strings with the judges. Heaven wasn't perfect, but justice was justice.
Asri then took the book and began flipping through it.
"This book might just prove her innocence," said Asri, "it was written way before she was even suspected of a crime, I think, back when she had no notion of even going against Heaven's laws. If the court sees it as a reliable source of information, and if I can find evidence of tampering in the archives, perhaps... I can claim that she was framed. But by who? Who would want Selice in Hell or banished out of Heaven?"
___________________________________________________________________________________________________
Casey glared at Selice, tears still streaming down her face.
"Asri, you must stay away!" she yelled, "trust me! That man may have a good heart, but he's... he's cursed! For God's sake, how can you live in this sphere and not have any inkling of who he is?! What he's done... I know this sphere is big, but if you ever looked into the legal services of Heaven, I'm sure that his name would come up somewhere..."
Casey knew that what she may have said was wrong... Asri wasn't particularly famous anywhere, only well-known in several Spheres where he frequently worked. And Heaven had an uncountable number of Spheres... but... Casey didn't want to believe that this girl could fall for him so ignorantly... an innocent life...

Jasper gave Asri a playful smirk. "We can always find out who's been in her files". Jasper walked out of the kitchen and made his way to Selice's study. He sat down at her desk and pulled up the huge computer screen on the wall. He began to type furiously, bringing up old log-in files from Selice's work computer back at the Reaper HQ.
"hmmm...lets see. When were these accusations brought against her?" Jasper asked, still typing. "And Honestly, if you wanted to know who would try and get her banished, I'd start digging up stuff on Lucifer. Before the fall he was all over her" Jasper said as he continued to work.

Selice turned her head as Michael entered the cell block. "I thought you had work?" she said softly. Michael was like her big brother. Her big strong protective older brother. A Smile traced over her features. "Any news on Asri? Did he find my...did he find it?" she asked softly.
____________________________________
Michael stared back at Selice's crystal blue eyes. "I don't know. I simply got a message from Jasper asking if I could come over and keep you company. I can't stay long, but I figured I would stay as long as I can" Michael said softly, reaching through the bars to gently caress Selice's cheek.

Asri's eyes widened.
"WHAT?!" he yelled, "LUCIFER?! Is he the... the angel that refused to bow to humans, that was cast out so long ago with his followers?!"
He stood, shocked. Lucifer was rather famous in Heaven... Asri had known about him ever since he started working as a defense lawyer for Fallen... why a good chunk of them even got kicked out in the first place. So much for god being accomodating.
"The charges were brought against her pretty recently," said Asri, continuing to flip through the book, "it's hard to keep track of time in Animus... she first mentioned losing favour with god a few weeks ago, and it was only today that Selice was arrested and brought to prison. We have to work fast. It's early afternoon now and her trial is tomorrow."
______________________________________________________________________________________________
Casey growled menacingly at the new arrival, Michael.
"What are you doing here, Archangel?" she asked, "I thought that you didn't have the time to meddle with lowly Fallen like us? The girl's fate is sealed, if she continues to associate with bastards like him and his family!"

Jasper looked up for a moment. "Yeah. Fairly common knowledge. Lucifer had a huge thing for Selice. Heard he even built her a shrine at one point, creepy bastard. Offered her the world, but she refused him. When he fell he actually tried to bring up false accusations against her as well, tried to have her kicked out with him. If it hadn't been for Michael, she probably would have fallen and become a demon" Jasper added, still typing rapidly on the computer.
"Hmm.. ok that's odd. Says right here. September 3rd.... Larisa logged onto Selice's files...." Jasper said, a worried look on his face.

Michael turned, his golden armor flashing in the light of the hallway. "Silence. Her fate is not sealed. Do not speak of what you do not know, foolish little girl" Michael growled at Casey.

Asri brought out the files that he had obtained from the archives and began to find the individual souls that Selice had recorded. If everything was done correctly, the reports on what had happened to which soul would be consistent with each other. If not... that might be evidence of tampering. Either Selice had recorded the events incorrectly, or someone had corrupted the files within the archives.
He began with a woman named Stephanie Woods, a young lady who had managed to murder her abusive husband. According to the archives, Selice had sent her to Heaven when she was supposed to go to purgatory. Her own records said that she had the proper authorization. How strange...
"Hmm? Who's Larisa?" asked Asri, "a friend of Selice's? Why do you look so worried?"
____________________________________________________________________________________________
Casey growled at him, yanking at her chains viciously, liked a rabid animal.
"You're the one that's ignorant, archangel!" hissed Casey, "and I'm not a little girl. That woman you care for, she's fallen for her lawyer. I saw it, they flirted in prison! If you let her stay in Animus with him, they might fall in love! I was in love with him to, and look where I ended! I don't want her to suffer the same fate!"

"Larisa is, or rather was, a reaper. She's been dead for eons" Jasper said softly.

Michael turned to Selice. "You've Fallen for the Angel of plagues? Are you really that foolish Selice?" he asked quietly. Michael knew full well of Asri's reputation, so it worried him to know that the one he cared for most had given her heart to the worst possible choice.

"What can I say....I care about him" she said softly, hanging her head.
