Veronica motioned close to Phobia, looked at him, face-to-face, and asked, "What exactly are you looking for? What are you planning?".

"Survival. That's all nothing less, nothing more." he paused and looked miles away while continuing."Nothing more, yet." He soon came back to reality and looked deep into Veronica's eyes. " You have trapped me into your illusion so easily so what do you exept me to survive if I'm not having good gear? Those things aren't only for killing many people you know. "

"I'm not here to hurt you, Phobia.", Veronica replied. "I'm here to show you what is what, the things I've never been able to share until now to anyone. And when I say 'anyone', I mean anyone. If anything, I'm trying to keep this city as safe as possible. If you've seen what I've seen, and lived through I have, you would be the same.".

"I trust you that you don't try to hurt me, but this just proves that if there's someone who can create illusions I would fall for them and thay might not be as nice as you are. Also I'm honored that you have shown me this, I would even if you have had shown this for everyone. So now I'm in debt to you." He said. "Although I'd like to not being grouped together with someone, no offence. It's just I don't know what you have been through but same goes for you, you don't know how I would acted."

"I completely understand", Veronica replied. She turned her attention back towards the window. Outside, a large demon walked through the city and was being held off by Myzrael (the dark angel), Bremman (the Norse demon), Syl, Veronica, the then-present and the then-future, and her daughter, Sara. "This is what I went through.", Veronica muttered. "I rediscovered a past, a life, and a daughter I never knew I had and then, being there, I took part and witnessed myself loosing it all over again. This is the moment the Black Goat took the city.". Veronica looked up and pointed to the sky where a man in a black suit stood perched in the heavens. "There he is, the Black Goat.".

"And one way or another he was defeated, am I right? As you aren't dead yet, at least here." Then he noticed that mosth of those people weren't quite te normal humans. " how many of the residents aren't fully human right now?"

"None, with the exceptions of Sara and I. There were a few.", Veronica paused as she gazed out the window and took a drag off her cigarette. "But ever since the prior event, I have not been able to find or locate them. I've been wandering around the city trying to find whoever I could. There just seems to hardly be anyone around. I come to wonder if they've completed what they came here for.".
The window changed to a dark lair. It was a scene Veronica knew all to well. It was the moment she realized her powers. From the moment she gave in to the Black Goat's advances, to Johnny's apology, followed by the fight Johnny and Bremman had to eradicate the Black Goat as Anya healed her. And finally to the Black Goat's defeat as they slowly left the portal, and that moment when Johnny promised to do what he could to protect her if she forgave him. A tear dripped from Veronica's eyes, she missed Johnny.
Veronica took another long drag off her cigarette. "There it is. The Black Goat's defeat.".

" So there are Heroes of Animus. The boss Deamon has been slain but you didn't get much of a revard, I supose." He said coldly, too cod he soon realized. " So what happened next?" He tried to change the subject

"The reward was our freedom. Things we revealed. Thing I didn't want to hear, things I didn't want to know, and at the same time things we had to know.". Veronica looked outside as a a lost platton of WW2 American soliders came marching through the city, planes, tanks, and all. "The forgotten 404", Veronica murmured.

"They seem like a normal human, don't they?" He thought about how would they come to the Animus before asking. " They didn't awaken like most of us at room 4#, did they?"

"No they did not.", Veronica replied as she exhaled a puff of smoke and flicked the ash off her cigarette into the ashtray. "I thought about that whole event since it ended and I came up with a theory: With or without the Black Goat, those planes were headed for Animus. Now, with the Black Goat sealing Animus somewhat, he blocked off a good amount of incoming residents from awakening. Then again, there are only three others I'm aware of at the moment, so if this were the case, the city should be considerably populated with conscious beings.".

"Well it might be that for now there isn't so much traffic or seals that Goat have set up might be still operational and are blocking routes to the Animus." Phobia took deep breath and continued. "It could be many reasons but this place was sewered from where it was, right? So assuming that things wouldn't go as they used to wouldn't be so absurd. Maybe that as Animus is in where Goat took it, it wouldn't regain it's powers as it's power source isn't here." Thinking his words for a moment he continued.
"What I'm trying to say is that flashlight will work for sometime with the batteries but as the time comes the batteries will be depleted. Then you just change them or charge them again, don't you? Now Animus have only limited supply of batteries, which will filter out some of it's functions. And when they run out.... I suppose the Animus you refer will cease to exist but this city will stay, until it'll reach end of it's life too."

Veronica smiled at Phobia and took another drag off her cigarette. Exhaling, she replied, "I think you might on to something. Despite his freedom, Animus is rather weak at the moment. Its the energizes of the residents that supports some fuel to Animus and right now, that is something it doesn't have.".

"Next question would be: Are we just batteries or are we something that just being here is giving Animus more power?" He went silent and took his knife out and started looking it's blade before continuing.
" Life is like a blade of the good knife. It's sharp and tiny decision, will make one fall in one way or to the other. If one might choose to stay still it will be cut half by the life itself." Phobia was looking so deep into the blade of the knife, or perhaps in his memories that when he stopped he was surprised what he just said.

"Our presence here alone provides Animus with energy, but not complete energy.". Veronica replied. She sipped her coffee and gave herself a moment to think. "There are still other forces out there that I'm sure Animus uses to acquire energy, I just still don't quite know what. At its current state, Animus is considerably weak."
Veronica smiled at Phobia and said, "I like that metaphor. We've all been there.".
Veronica turned to the window and watched as the residents fought the soldiers. She was there too with Johnny. She pressed her hand on the window and murmured, "How I miss him...".
Veronica closed her eyes and stopped herself.
"I'm sorry about that. Strangely enough, there are times when I miss the moments when I was dragged through hell. I don't know, but sometimes, the people with us, came make it all seem worthwhile...".
