Selice gave up. She had never been good with directions. The city was huge and terrifying. But it was also exciting. If only she hadn't been so cold and so tired. Her energy was totally zapped and she could barely keep walking. Selice finally stopped and slid down the wall of one of the buildings that lined the alleyway. She pulled her knees up to her chin and rested her arms across her knees, then rested her head on her arms, trying to keep warm in the cold autumn night air. She needed to get her hands of a coat of some kind. Hell a decent pair of pants and a shirt would be nice. The tattered clothing she wore offered no protection from the elements.

Veronica skimmed along the city. Just like most of her recent days, she really didn't know where to go and what to do. The city seemed even more lifeless and dull, and there was nothing she could do to change it. She could wish, but wishing just might bring something else horrible... And with the baby, the last thing she needed was a disaster.
Walking past an alleyway, she chanced upon a woman in despair. Motioning up to her, Veronica asked, "Are you alright?".

Selice looked up at the woman who had approached her. She didn't seem dangerous so she didn't bother getting her cricket bat. Selice stared into Veronica's eyes, giving her a look that said Not really. She concentrated, leaving a faint whisper in veronica's mind Actually I'm freezing and totally lost the voice said softly, if Veronica even heard it...sometimes people were too strong willed to pay attention to the angelic whisper.

Asri sighed.
He had lost Syl.
Again.
Again!
His hands in his pockets, he walked forward, shaking his head. Syl had wandered off and gone on another of its adventures, poking around the city and attempting to befriend anything that moved. Syl was so fast, and it never tired from running everywhere. Indeed, Kiel had spoken true when it came to Syl's extensive energy stores. In the past, Syl was trained to be able to store a large amount of energy, that would be their lifeline when things turned dark. Nowadays, all it was being used for was for Syl to explore the city incessantly, even if by now it had learned to effectively naviguate it.
If only he wasn't so weak. Asri may be an angel, but it was frustrating to see his own body get the better of him. Damn... Asri just wished that he could be a proper guardian for Syl, not wandering off so much on its own. It needed a protector. It needed... him.
It was then that Asri came upon a strange. Another angel... and he could feel that she was in despair. Asri was taken aback at the fact that there could be another angel here, but he approached them anyways.
"Ah, I see someone's also having a bad day," said Asri, trying to be pleasant, "is there anything that I can do to help?"

That presance....Another Angel! Selice shot up from the ground with a smile on her stitched lips. Thank the father! she yelled at Asri's mind. I thought I was alone in this city! But then my senses have been thrown off since I landed on earth. But yes! Yes you can help me! Please, where am I? Selice's thoughts were racing as she whispered in Asri's mind. God she was lucky to happen upon another angel! This would make everything so much easier.

Veronica didn't know what it was but she could have sworn she heard the girl's voice speak to her. Veronica allowed herself to listen to what the voice was telling her. Slipping off her jacket, she motioned it around the girl's shoulder and said, "Let me help you.".

Selice offered Veronica a warm smile that told her 'thank you so much for the jacket'. Thank you for your kindness her voice slid into Veronica's mind once again. Selice then returned her attention to Asri.

Asarek didn't even flinch as he heard her voice in his head. In a way, even if his connection with Syl and Kiel was not really telepathic, it had changed his mind, and he was used to having Kiel's influence in his head while having difficulty influencing it. In a way, Asri had accepted that fact, since Kiel was the one that guided them through difficult terrain.
Having this angel speak in his mind... Asri felt an inkling of gratitude that it didn't come with any influence as with Kiel. He smiled at her and sat down next to her, casually applying hand sanitizer and rubbing his hands together.
"You're on Animus," said Asri gently, as he looked at her, "a city in a dimension of its own. It was once a part of earth, but has since been raised into a plane of its own. The story's long and complicated, but since I recently only came here myself, my ward's yet to tell me all that it knows about it. Now, how may I help you?"

Veronica crossed her arms and watched the interaction between Asri and the girl. She was interested in seeing what was going to happen, and with that, she wanted a cigarette. The craving came every so often, but for the one growing inside her, she held her urge... What's eight more months?

Animus huh? Never before have I heard of this place. A look of slight confusion crossed Selice's face. She began to think of how Asri could help her more than he already had. Hmm, perhaps you can point me towards a thrift shop, and then perhaps somewhere where I might be able to stay for the night. she whispered to Asri. She Didn't mind having Veronica here, but Selice would have loved to unstitch her sore lips. She also wouldn't mind to stretch her wings, leaving them beneath the skin too long was just uncomfortable.

Asri smiled at the angel. It had been a while since he had last encountered a member of what he considered kindred... cousins... He stood, and bowed, before the woman.
"I'd be glad to."
He briefly stretched, before returning his attention back to the woman, offering her a hand for her to get to her feet.
"Unfortunately, I'm pretty worn out from running all across the city after my ward," said Asri, smiling, "and the thrift shop and the housing area, the one with better-maintained houses, is some distance away. I'd prefer if we fly there, if that's okay with you. It'll get us there much faster, and the sooner you get new clothes, the better."

I....I can't take your hand. Forgive it if it seems rude, but I'd rather not kill you Selice said with an apologetic smile. She stood and Took off Veronica's jacket. She Tossed it back to the woman, offering her a super warm smile. Thank you again so much for the coat she whispered. Selice turned her attention to Asri. I don't mind flying one bit. Is it safe though? I know usually people would have a fit if they saw angels flying about.

Veronica slipped on her jacket and said, "If you ever need anything, you can always find me in the church.". With those words, Veronica motioned off into the night.

Asri didn't bother to give Veronica a second glance, only giving her a brief wave. He withdrew his hand, once again applying hand sanitizer, but without realizing it. Applying it had been a habit of his for so long that he would pretty much do it without realizing it.
"Nah, don't fret about it," he said, smiling, "I was only doing it to be polite; I'm not a fan of handshades either... for... various reasons. I can relate, actually, more than you'd think."
He stepped away from the angel, looking up at the sky.
"And most people here are mindless," said Asri, "they don't give a damn whether angels fly here or not. Syl, my ward, once told me that it met one fallen angel that could fly around and blast things with impunity here... in fact, he would blow stuff just because he felt like it, and not everyone liked him for that. He's gone now, but I suppose you get what I mean.
"I understand that there maybe the issue of the other residents, but as long as we don't fly so high, I doubt that they'll spot us, and if they do, I doubt that they'll care... even if my wings do tend to attract attention."
He smiled at her gently, as he stood, looking up at the sky, facing the buildings on the street.
"'Sides, I've been looking for an excuse to fly since I got here," said Asri, "it's an old joy of mine, but it's rather difficult for me to fly freely without the use of a cloaking spell. Now, I suppose it's a bit better, now that I'm not the only angel here."

When Veronica finally left, Selice carefully unstitched her sore lips. "It's nice to be able to speak without worrying about accidentally killing someone" she laughed. Her voice was dark, but it held a calming under tone to it. Selice closed her eyes, concentrating on her wings. The slowly began to emerge, turning her back into a mangled bloody mess, but it quickly healed over. A smile crossed her features. "I really needed to stretch these out. they get so cramped when I leave them under my skin for too long" she said softly. Selice flapped and stretched out her huge set of midnight black wings, allowing them to stretch out into the full 14 foot wing span that she had. "Anyway, shall we be off?" she asked with a light smile, flapping her wings and taking off into the air. She hovered over Asri for a moment, waiting for him to join her in the air.
