Johnny approached the fourth floor and caught the site of a stranger, a kid, looking into a room. Slowly approach him, Johnny veered over his shoulder and looked at the violent mess in the room before them.
"What the hell happened in here?", Johnny asked the stranger.
He wanted to get to Veronica more than he wanted answers. With the way she sounded on the radio earlier, Johnny reckoned that something was off... Not right. But right now, he wasn't gonna make a move until the kid replied to his question.

Zachery turned his head and looked down at Johnny. He was a bit taller than him, but only because his race was built that way. The man had enough brain capacity to acknowledge him, the room and even ask a question. Which was pretty rare considering all the Mindless he had encountered. His silver eyes rested on Johnny, inspecting his form and recognizing his weapons and clothing. Obviously he was a human. Zachery stood in silence for a moment, then answered as he put his hands in his pockets and leaned against the door frame. “The hell I’d know. I haven’t been here more than a day and this place seems so desolate other than those… strange humans. It’s like they don’t have any mind left except to do what they are meant to do. Almost like machines.” He said. His arms by his side. Zachery turned his head back to the mess in the room. Blood, limp bodies, and a wall smeared and written in blood. “Mind telling me why the hell I was dragged here?” He asked back. He obviously hadn’t encountered anyone like himself till now. And he hadn’t been here long at all.

"We'll need to make sure that she doesn't cause us any problems. Especially in her state, I mean how is a pregnant woman meant to help us when she can't even help herself."
Asri nodded at Rosa, wihtout showing much concern for Karashi at all.
"Don't worry; the mindless will tend to her. They patrol these halls regularly, so they'll give her the care that I can't provide at the moment. If there's anything she needs, they will provide it to her and will keep her alive."
Without a second thought, he stepped towards the door and looked back at Rosa. There was only one thing in his mind now: Syl. If it was left along for too long, it would wander off on its own, and Syl had regressed to the point where it needed social contact to keep its mind intact. It thrived on it, but when its friends left it, it could potentially drive it insane. Naturally, Syl's darker side wasn't affected by it, but due to those bugs, Syl couldn't switch as well as it could before. It needed protection if it was to stray from the the hospital, and he needed to find it - fast.
"Now, I'd suggest that we go find Syl now," said Asri, as he sighed wearly, "before it wanders off. My aura-tracking abilities are not as good as I'd want them to be, so I have to get to it before it wanders out of range. Um... could you close the door behind you?"
And with that, he hurried out of the lab, nervously applying hand sanitizer.
"SYL! Where the hell are you?!" ____________________________________________________
Syl reacted sharply when it heard Asri's yell, its head suddenly jerking back and its eyes widening. And then... it sensed his approaching aura... Asri... he must have been concerned that it had wandered off. It turned towards Chrys, joy written all over its face.
"Miss Chrys," it said happily, "I sense a doctor approaching. He's a really really good friend of mind, so please be nice to him, okay?"
It hugged her arm happily as it waited for Asri to catch up. They were on the other side of the building by now, but still on the fourth floor of the hospital... still within Asri's range. Which was good as Syl hoped that he and Rosa could just get out of that cage that he called a 'lab.'

Chrysta nodded, smiling at Syl. "Of course." She wondered who this mysterious doctor could tell. Syl obviously held him in a very high esteem, which meant he must be special. However, Syl did seem to think highly of almost everyone. If that were the case, than everyone must be special. Chrystabelle liked that realm of thought. Everyone truly was special, which made every counter with any being special. Thoughts like that made her feel optimistic.
"You know Syl, you should really write a book," she said quietly. "I think you have a lot of knowledge to share." She absentmindedly pushed some of her hair back, feeling self conscious at the prospect of meeting someone new.

Johnny lit a cigarette as he approached Zachery and said, "There's a lot you need to know about this place, man... A lot. Hell, I've been here close to a year now and I still haven't gotten this place figured out."
Johnny turned away and motioned down the hall and continued, "Come on, I'll take you to Veronica and some of the others, and hopefully, once this whole thing has come and passed, we can fill you in on what we know.".

Zachery silently followed. He’d not much to ask, only a few simple and obvious questions. “Seems I must have missed the party.” he said. Mentioning the bloody mess that Mr. P had caused. Or at least that’s the name written on the wall ‘Mr. P Wuz Hear’ in capital letters. How primitive.

Standing on the balcony next to Maz, Veronica could have sworn she heard footsteps and voices coming from the stairway bellow. Turning her head as she approached the hidden staircase, Veronica caught the sight of Johnny coming into the room. A smile flushed across her face as she ran into his arms.
"Excited to see me, Roth?", Johnny asked.
Looking up at him, she gently replied, "Yeah, as a matter of fact I am.".
"So, what's this you wanted to tell me?".
"I'm pregnant.", Veronica replied softly, as she tried to cover a soft grin.
Johnny kissed Veronica and held her tightly. Sure the city was ripping apart, some random menace had come along to slaughter the innocent and bomb the city, but as far as Johnny and Veronica were concerned, they were in heaven.

Zachery leaned against the railing, "Congratulations then." he replied. His voice seemed to hold no hint of emotion, as such his face didn't either. He didn't much care for the fact that he was stuck here probably forever. But he wanted a few answers before he could stroll the streets carlessly as he had. Obviously there was someone who was capable to kill... and enjoyed it. And he would like to know who the main enemies were and perhaps a small situation covery.
"A run down city, mindless humans, slaughtered people in hotel rooms." he mumbled to himself. Wondering how there was still love to be wandering in the mix.

Asri came runing up to Syl as it turned around.
"SYL!" he cried out.
"ASRI!" replied Syl.
They ran towards each other hugged each other tightly. Syl, though, had Asri within its iron grasp. he gasped, as the air was squeezed out of his lungs. It was a while before Syl decided to let go of him.Asri groaned as he panted for air, as Syl went back to Chrys and pointed its thumb at Asri.
"Miss Chrys, this the doctor that I wanted you to meet!" Syl cheerfully.
Asri groaned.
"Don't wander off on your own, Syl," he said, "you need protection. Damn, I was worried that you'd go off and explore the city on your own, in the midst of what's going on!"
Syl pulled on his sleeve and scowled on him.
"Don't be rude, Asri!" it said, "introduce yourself!"
Asri sighed, then nodded.
"Very well."
He nodded to the young woman that stood near Syl. While she was pretty in his eyes, he wondered if she was going to be another contender for Syl's affections. Syl knew so many people here, Asri was already bewildered on what to do. Nonetheless, he kept his composure and bowed before the young lady.
"My name's Asarek Sazsaroziel," said Asri, "although most people call me 'Asri.'"

"It's nice to meet, you sir," she said politely, curtsying. "I'm Chrystabelle, though you can just call me Chrys if you prefer." She smiled, always happy to meet another fully functioning person. On several occasions, she'd followed mindless people all around the city, pleading with them to respond to her. It never seemed to work, so she was always overjoyed to find someone who would.
Watching Syl and Asri's reunion, she had to assume that Syl was someone who could be a bit of a handful sometimes. That was probably not the safest thing to be in a city like this, but she admired his free spirit. It reminded her of all the other ways one could live life.
Asri, on the other hand, appeared to be more serious. She could understand that, as doctors usually tended to be very levelheaded. He still seemed nice, and obviously cared for Syl very much. Without a second thought, she decided that she liked him. "Do you enjoy being a doctor? I've tried reading some medical books, but lot of it goes over my head. Have you ever saved a life?" She didn't mean to be rude, with her questioning, but she was curious.

Asri was a tad bit taken aback by her questions, but decided to answer them anyways.
"Um... I suppose I enjoy it," he said shyly, as Syl hugged his arm affectionately, "I've saved quite a few lives, I suppose, so many that I've lost track. In fact, I once owned a small clinic of my own before coming here, and from there I treated many patients."
In truth, Asri was more interested in law than medicine, but medicine and botany were still two hobbies that he enjoyed sometimes. It was good, as they were a necessity for him to have, as he needed to formulate medicines quickly and efficiently, often without another doctor on hand. Another thing he didn't mention was that he tended to usehis patients as test subjects when researching the effectiveness of his new medicines. Selfish, but Asri cared more for Syl and Kiel than for them. Howver, the most bitter truth that Asri failed to mention was that he killed more people than he saved... he was the Angel of Plagues after all.
It was a bitter pill to swallow, but it was one that he had to live with, and not one that he liked sharing with others. He smiled as Syl pulled on his sleeve.
"Asri," it said, "where's Rosa?"
Asri smiled and ruffled its hair.
"She followed me hopefully," he said, "I just hopes she catches up soon, as I want to find a safer place than the hospital to stay. If someone was easily capable of breaking into the hospital and stealing that uranium, I doubt that this is the safest place to be."

"Rosa's here?" Chrystabelle asked excitedly, looking around in hopes of seeing her. She'd missed Rosa and Maz. They were the first people she'd met in Animus, and she held them in high esteem. Considering the rest of Asri's words, she frowned slightly.
"Uranium, the stuff used in nuclear energy. Someone took that? That can't be good,"she realized. "Will the other people here be okay?" She questioned, thinking of the mindless and anyone else who happened to be in the hospital that day.

Asri nodded.
"She hopefully followed us here," said Asri, "and yeah, someone stole uranium from the hospital. I sensed his aura while I was in the lab, and determined that he was in the room where it was kept. When i ran after Syl, I checked that room and it was a mess, withmindles slaughtered all around. Syl, on the other hand, was probably busy and thus didn't notice. as far as I've observed, several mindless are dead, but there's still enough of them left for the hospital to function."
He felt Syl hug him tightly. Chances were that Syl had detected it, but never really acknowledged it happening. Its mind shut it out, and Asri understood why. Syl's sensitivity was tricky to deal with. Its reaction would have been far worse than Asri's speechlessless when he passed by the ruined operating room.
"I'm sorry that I didn't notice," said Syl, very honestly, "I was thinking all about Asri and miss Rosa and you, miss Chrys."
It looked at Chrys with an adorably sympathetic look on its face.
"Why is everyone stressing out so much? What's wrong with uranium? What can I do to make you feel better miss Chrys?"

Chrystabelle opened her mouth to explain, but hesitated. She thought back to the day when she'd first read about uranium. Uranium had not been discovered yet in her time period; from all the books she'd read, she'd come to the conclusion that all almost all the books had come from a different time and a different world than her own. When she'd read about what uranium could be used for, she was deeply saddened. If it made her feel unhappy, she figured Syl would be devastated, and she didn't want to cause that.
"Uranium, er...in some hands, it's not a good thing." Following a stroke of inspiration, she dug a hand into her pocket, nearly shrieking with success when she found some of her store bought candy. She took a few pieces out and offered it to Syl. "Want some?" She asked, hoping it would be an adequate distraction. She smiled brightly, but in her mind she was quite stressed. Dead mindless and stolen uranium were definitely not what she expected when she came to the hospital that day.

"A run down city, mindless humans, slaughtered people in hotel rooms."
Johnny got the hint. Pulling away from Veronica, he flashed her a smile and a wink that had "later..." written all over it. Holding Veronica by the hand, Johnny turned to Zachary and asked, "Care to fill him on where we are what were doing here?".
As far as Veronica Roth was concerned, she had given newcomers the basic spiel so many times that she joked, to herself, that she should start providing tours around the city. The thought made her chuckle... She could even picture it.
Looking up at a waiting Zachary, she began... "We are in the city of Animus. A living, breathing, entity that had once settled on Earth thousands of years ago. Hence the city and everything you see around you. Until, fairly recently, to our understanding, a demon known as the Black Goat took the city over and propelled it to a realm of its own and here we are. We each have our own journeys here in Animus, this city calls out to people, lost people. Those mindless drones you see around you, they were once like us, like you and me. Until they gave in to despair and lost their minds.".
